Building Automation Engineer

Our client, Industry Descriptor is seeking a Service Engineer to join their team. As a Service Engineer, you will be part of the Building Automation Engineering team supports global data center infrastructure by designing, reviewing, and maintaining building automation and control systems that manage cooling, airflow, humidity, and other critical environmental functions. The team partners with vendors and engineering stakeholders to ensure consistent controls standards are implemented across data center projects worldwide, supports construction and commissioning activities, reviews technical deliverables, and resolves issues in mission-critical environments to maintain reliable Azure data center operations.

Location: Redmond, WA - Remote
Pay Range: $64.hr - $69.hr on Experis W2(Benefits/PTO/401k)

BAS engineering experience - 8+ years
Mission critical / data center construction experience - 5+ years
Major DDC platform experience - 5+ years
Best vs. Average: → Experience supporting mission-critical environments such as data centers, critical facilities, hospitals, or other high-availability infrastructure. → Hands-on experience designing, programming, commissioning, or supporting Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Direct Digital Controls (DDC) platforms. → Experience reviewing controls design packages, sequences of operations, controls schematics, points lists, network architecture diagrams, and BAS submittals. → Exposure to hyperscale data center design, construction, commissioning, or operations. → Experience authoring, maintaining, or enforcing engineering standards across a portfolio of projects. → Familiarity with major DDC vendors such as Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, or Automated Logic. → Proficiency with design and documentation tools including AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Visio. → Strong understanding of building automation protocols such as BACnet and Modbus, as well as DDC and PLC control systems. → Experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams, vendors, and system integrators in a global project environment. → Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document findings, track design comments to closure, and clearly communicate design intent to stakeholders.

Review Building Automation System (BAS) submittals, engineering deliverables, and technical documentation.
Support global data center projects by ensuring controls standards are met and implemented correctly.
Collaborate with vendors, engineers, and cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues during construction and commissioning.
Maintain detailed documentation of design changes, lessons learned, and engineering standards for future deployments.
Assist in testing, validation, and troubleshooting of building automation systems in mission-critical environments.
What's Needed?
8+ years of hands-on experience supporting, designing, programming, or commissioning Building Automation Systems (BAS).
5+ years of experience supporting mission-critical environments such as data centers or critical facilities.
Proficiency with major DDC platforms and building automation protocols like BACnet and Modbus.
Experience reviewing controls design documents, sequences of operations, and technical schematics.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across global teams and time zones.
