Overview
We are seeking a driven and relationship-focused Transportation Manager to support freight strategy and carrier management across our portfolio of brands. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment and can balance strategic planning with day-to-day execution. You will serve as a trusted part of the operations team while working cross-functionally to deliver solutions and drive growth.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage day-to-day transportation operations across parcel, LTL, truckload, intermodal, ocean and other transportation modes.
• Identify and implement opportunities to reduce costs while improving service and operational performance across an organization with over $60 million in annual transportation spend,.
• Lead management of over $20 million in annual LTL spend including TMS oversight, carrier selection, routing optimization, pricing, and network performance.
• Work with operations to ensure data accuracy, user adoption, and continuous process improvement company’s Transportation Management System (TMS),.
• Develop and maintain transportation KPIs measuring cost, service, transit, utilization, claims, etc.
• Collaborate with IT, Operations, and Purchasing/Supply Chain teams during TMS, WMS, and ERP improvements and integrations.
• Analyze freight data to identify trends, opportunities, and root cause analyses to provide actionable recommendations.
• Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews with transportation providers to review performance, pricing, and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Establish and maintain Carrier Scorecards to improve service and reliability.
• Lead design and implementation a standardized freight claims management process to improve visibility and recoveries.
• Partner with warehouse leadership to improve shipping processes, dock efficiency, freight planning, and performance.
• Develop, document, and implement standardized transportation processes and best practices across multiple operating companies and distribution centers.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of progressive transportation or logistics management experience.
• Experience managing significant transportation spend within a distribution or manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of LTL, Truckload, and Parcel freight, contracts, routing, and freight optimization.
• Experience working within a Transportation Management System (TMS).
• Lead or supported TMS, WMS, or ERP system implementations – strongly preferred.
• Experience leading claims management.
• Demonstrated experience negotiating carrier contracts and managing strategic carrier relationships.
• Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all organization levels.
• Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
