Sr. Snowflake, SQL Server DBA

Position Summary
Predactica is seeking a hands-on engineer who can build and support data solutions across Snowflake and Microsoft SQL Server. This role combines strong SQL development, practical database administration, and Python-based automation.
You will work on production data systems: designing reliable data pipelines, improving query performance, troubleshooting failures, automating repetitive operations, and helping teams move data securely between platforms. We need someone who is comfortable writing code and taking ownership when a production database or pipeline has a problem.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain SQL transformations, stored procedures, views, and data pipelines across Snowflake and SQL Server.
Build Python scripts and reusable automation for data ingestion, validation, reconciliation, monitoring, and operational tasks.
Administer and support SQL Server databases, including performance tuning, indexing, backup and recovery, security, and troubleshooting.
Manage Snowflake environments, including warehouses, roles and access controls, resource usage, data loading, and query performance.
Investigate slow queries, failed jobs, data quality issues, and production incidents; identify root causes and implement lasting fixes.
Develop reliable processes for moving and reconciling data between SQL Server, Snowflake, APIs, files, and other enterprise sources.
Apply sound data modeling and engineering practices to make datasets accurate, maintainable, and useful to downstream applications.
Create scripts, documentation, and operational procedures that reduce manual work and improve supportability.
Collaborate with application developers, data engineers, analysts, and client teams to translate requirements into production-ready solutions.
Required Technical Skills
Snowflake
Hands-on experience developing SQL and supporting production workloads in Snowflake.
Experience with data loading, warehouse configuration, role-based access control, performance tuning, and cost-conscious resource management.
Microsoft SQL Server
Strong T-SQL development skills, including complex queries, stored procedures, views, and query optimization.
Practical DBA experience with indexing, execution plans, database maintenance, backup and recovery, permissions, and production troubleshooting.
Python and scripting
Strong Python skills for data processing, automation, API integration, and database operations.
Experience with scripting tools such as PowerShell or shell scripts.
Ability to write maintainable code with appropriate logging, error handling, and validation.
Engineering practices
Experience using Git and working with scheduled jobs or orchestration tools.
Understanding of data quality, security, access controls, and production support practices.
Ability to diagnose issues independently and communicate findings clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience migrating or integrating data from SQL Server into Snowflake.
Familiarity with Snowflake features such as Snowpipe, Streams, Tasks, and stored procedures.
Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Azure Data Factory, dbt, or similar pipeline tools.
Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
Familiarity with CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and monitoring for data platforms.
Experience working with regulated or security-sensitive enterprise data.
Required Experience
7+ years of experience in database development, data engineering, or closely related roles.
3+ years of hands-on experience with Snowflake.
Significant production experience with SQL Server development and DBA responsibilities.
Demonstrated experience using Python and scripting to automate data or database workflows.
Experience in data administration in Cloud environment (AWS or Azure)
