This is 100% remote position. CHLA requires a primary residence in California prior to start date.**
Schedule: Monday-Friday, Day Shift
Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Medical Coder, Outpatient provides coding and pre-defined abstracting services following mandated Federal and State Regulations, The Joint Commission, CHLA Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, Division specific coding guidelines, and hospital policies and procedures. Participates in providing quality coded data for outcomes, peer review, reimbursement, research, marketing and development. Performs as a mentor to non-credentialed coding staff.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 2+ years of experience as a Medical Coder, preferably with Pediatric Coding experience and/or coding experience in a large teaching hospital. Demonstrated proficiency in ICD 10 / CPT assignments.
Education/Licensure/Certifications: High school graduate or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered. CCS or CPC credential and CEUs to maintain required.
