Role Description . The Flight Paramedic is responsible for providing advanced pre-hospital and in-flight medical care to passengers and crew, including rapid assessment, stabilization, and treatment in accordance with established clinical protocols. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and checking medical equipment and supplies before flights, documenting patient care, and communicating clearly with flight crew, ground medical teams, and airport authorities. The role also involves participating in emergency drills, maintaining current certifications, adhering to safety and aviation regulations, and supporting passenger health-related needs during boarding, flight, and disembarkation. Flight Paramedics contribute to IndiGo’s safety culture by following standardized procedures, reporting incidents accurately, and promoting a calm and professional environment during medical emergencies.
Qualifications
Advanced clinical care skills, including patient assessment, airway management, trauma care, and life support in pre-hospital or critical care transport settings.
Proficiency with medical equipment used in emergency care and transport, such as monitors, defibrillators, ventilatory support devices, and medication administration tools.
Strong knowledge of emergency medicine protocols, aviation medical guidelines, and relevant national and international health regulations.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to coordinate with flight crew, medical teams, and operations staff in high-pressure situations.
Proven capacity to make sound clinical decisions quickly, maintain composure during crises, and prioritize patient safety and confidentiality.
Physical fitness and resilience to work in confined spaces, manage medical equipment, and respond rapidly to emergency scenarios during flights.
Current paramedic or equivalent licensure/certification, with valid advanced life support certifications (e.g., ACLS, BLS; PALS or ITLS preferred).
Previous experience in flight medicine, critical care transport, emergency medical services, or hospital emergency departments is strongly beneficial.
