Associate, Business Development | 100% Commission

The Opportunity
My client is seeking a relationship-driven Associate, Business Development to help grow a middle market M&A advisory practice. You will work with qualified inbound business-owner opportunities, lead and support consultative conversations, assess strategic goals and transaction readiness, and help convert strong-fit prospects into signed sell-side advisory engagements.
This role combines business development, client qualification, and consultative sales. You will build credibility with founders and senior executives, guide opportunities through a structured decision process, maintain disciplined pipeline activity, and collaborate with senior bankers to ensure newly engaged clients transition into transaction execution with clear expectations and strong internal alignment.
What You Will Do
Engage with pre-qualified inbound business-owner opportunities and participate in initial advisory conversations.
Develop a clear understanding of each company, owner priorities, transaction goals, timing, valuation expectations, and decision criteria.
Assess fit and transaction readiness while clearly communicating the firm’s sell-side M&A process, positioning, deliverables, and client experience.
Build trusted relationships with founders and senior executives through thoughtful discovery, responsive follow-up, and professional communication.
Address questions and concerns related to timing, fees, valuation, confidentiality, and the advisory process with sound judgment.
Advance qualified opportunities through discovery, follow-up, proposal discussions, and engagement-letter execution.
Maintain accurate CRM notes, pipeline stages, forecasts, next steps, and conversion reporting.
Partner with senior bankers on client handoffs and share feedback on lead quality, client sentiment, market conditions, and messaging.
What You Bring
Experience in business development, consultative B2B sales, financial services, advisory work, or another client-facing professional services environment.
Strong business acumen and confidence communicating with founders, business owners, and C-suite decision-makers.
Excellent discovery, presentation, organization, written communication, follow-up, and relationship-management skills.
Sound commercial judgment with the ability to evaluate client needs, transaction readiness, and appropriate next steps.
Exposure to M&A, investment banking, private equity, finance, consulting, accounting, brokerage, or professional services is preferred.
Comfort with performance targets, accountability, and a 100% commission-only compensation model.
Available to work remotely from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time.
Must be based in the United States.
