Role Description
Adjunct Faculty at Pacific Islands University will teach remote courses, prepare syllabi and lesson plans, deliver online instruction, and facilitate class discussions in alignment with the university’s Christian mission. Day-to-day responsibilities include grading assignments, providing timely and constructive feedback, holding virtual office hours, and supporting students’ academic and spiritual development. The role also involves maintaining accurate course records, collaborating with academic leadership to improve curriculum, and using learning management systems and other digital tools to enhance student engagement. This is a remote role that requires consistent availability during the academic term and adherence to institutional policies and accreditation standards.
Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to deliver college-level coursework, including clear syllabi, structured lesson plans, and effective assessment methods.
Strong online teaching and communication skills, with proficiency in learning management systems, video conferencing tools, and other digital instructional platforms.
Commitment to student-centered teaching, including mentoring and providing culturally sensitive support to a diverse student body.
Alignment with the university’s Christian mission and values, with the ability to integrate faith and learning.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple courses or responsibilities in a remote setting.
Master’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline from an accredited institution; prior higher education teaching experience is strongly preferred.
Experience working with international or multicultural populations and familiarity with the Pacific Islands context is an asset.
Reliable high-speed internet access and comfort adopting new educational technologies and approaches to continuous improvement in teaching.
