Job purpose:
The Senior AEM Content Author is responsible for creating, managing, and maintaining high-quality digital experiences within Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). The role independently owns the authoring and maintenance of simple and complex websites, including multi-site content operations, and provides accurate estimates for assigned tasks.
The Senior AEM Content Author works closely with Creative, Technology, QA, and Business teams to ensure content is accurately implemented using approved AEM templates and components. The role requires strong knowledge of AEM authoring, Multi Site Manager (MSM), Blueprints, Live Copies, publishing workflows, and web technologies including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
Job details:
Location: Remote (open to candidates based in Costa Rica, Mexico, Colombia; must be able to work on a UTC-6 schedule)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Costa Rica Time Zone.
Job Type: Fixed-term, full-time position, approximately 2 to 3 months, with potential for extension.
Language Proficiency: Professional proficiency in Spanish and English (C1 reading, writing & conversation)
Availability: Immediate availability preferred
Key Responsibilities:
Create, update, and manage digital content using Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) components developed and maintained by the Development team.
Author, edit, review, and publish web pages using approved AEM templates, components, and Experience Fragments.
Manage AEM Multi Site Manager (MSM), Blueprints, and Live Copies, including rollout, synchronization, and inheritance across multiple sites, markets, or language variations.
Manage page versions and content recovery, including creating versions, reviewing version history, and restoring content when required.
Apply AEM authoring best practices related to component reuse, page structure, naming conventions, metadata, accessibility, content governance, and responsive experiences.
Ensure high-quality execution of digital content and assets according to HTML5, CSS3, WCAG accessibility, responsive design, and cross-browser standards.
Collaborate closely with Creative, Business, Technology, and QA teams to ensure content and functionality meet business, design, and performance requirements across desktop and mobile experiences.
Support the validation and testing of new or updated AEM components from an authoring and content perspective.
Translate user and business requirements into structured AEM authoring activities.
Maintain documentation for authoring standards, workflows, component usage, and content governance to support scalable and consistent content operations.
Troubleshoot content-related issues, including component configuration, styling inconsistencies, metadata errors, inheritance issues, and publishing discrepancies, escalating technical defects to AEM Development or DevOps when necessary.
Proactively identify opportunities to improve authoring processes, content governance, and operational efficiency.
Required Academic Background:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Digital Media, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Required Skills and Experience:
5+ years of professional experience working with enterprise-level Content Management Systems (CMS), with strong hands-on experience in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). Experience with platforms such as Sitecore or TeamSite is also valuable.
Advanced hands-on experience with AEM authoring, including page creation, content updates, page assembly, content hierarchy management, reusable components, templates, Experience Fragments, and structured authoring workflows.
Strong practical knowledge of AEM Multi Site Manager (MSM), including the creation and management of Blueprints and Live Copies, rollout configurations, synchronization, and inheritance management.
Demonstrated ability to manage Live Copy relationships across multiple sites, markets, or language variations, balancing global content synchronization with approved local variations.
Experience with AEM page versioning, backup, and recovery, including creating and reviewing versions and restoring pages or content following accidental changes or publishing issues.
Strong understanding of AEM content lifecycle and publishing workflows, including authoring, preview, approval, activation, deactivation, and validation across author and publish environments.
Proven client-facing experience, including direct communication with clients, stakeholder management, expectation alignment, and coordination across cross-functional digital teams.
Thorough understanding of CMS architecture, templates, component-based design, responsive design, and cross-browser best practices.
Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, with the ability to identify and troubleshoot basic authoring, rendering, or content delivery issues.
Strong understanding of AEM authoring best practices, including component reuse, template adherence, content governance, naming conventions, accessibility, metadata management, and consistent page structures.
Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to define authoring standards and provide guidance to content authors and business users.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain content consistency across fast-paced, multi-site, and multi-stakeholder environments.
Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as Jira, Confluence, or similar project-management platforms.
Nice to have
Adobe Experience Manager certification, such as Adobe Certified Professional or Adobe Certified Expert in AEM Sites.
Experience with version-control systems such as Git, SVN, or Mercurial.
Familiarity with AEM workflow configuration, metadata management, Digital Asset Management (DAM), and localization workflows.
Basic understanding of SEO best practices and how structured content, metadata, and page configuration within AEM can support search visibility.
Familiarity with SASS, LESS, MVC concepts, or object-oriented development principles.
