🌍 About PathoMatch AI - AI-Powered Precision Biologics
PathoMatch AI is an early-stage biotech startup building an AI-driven platform that connects pathogen genomes with the most effective biologic treatments - starting with phages and continuing with fungi and mycoviruses.
Our goal is to tackle antibiotic resistance through precision biologics and machine learning, guided by the One Health principle that connects human, animal, and environmental health.
We are assembling a founding team with complementary strengths, and looking for a visionary Phage Scientist to build our biological logic.
💡 Why This Role Matters
You are the biological architect of our Pathogen-to-Prescription solution. Because we partner with external phage banks and GMP phage producers instead of isolating phages in nature, your primary focus will be translational. You will map complex phage-host interactions into the structured biological logic that our AI needs to make its 24-hour "Match-to-Bedside" promise a reality.
🧠 Your Mission
Matchmaking Logic Design: Define the biological rules that power our AI. Map out receptor-binding domains, infection dynamics, and bacterial resistance mechanisms so our platform can accurately predict phage efficacy based purely on pathogen genomic data.
Phage Bank Integration: Act as the scientific lead in evaluating and collaborating with external phage banks, academic labs, and biotech partners. You will define the data standards required for external genomic and phenotypic data to enter our matching ecosystem.
AI Data Pipeline: Bridge the gap between virology and data science. Work alongside our machine learning engineers to ensure their algorithms respect biological realities, validating computational predictions against established phage biology.
🧩 Who You Are
The Credentials: PhD in Phage Biology, Computational Biology, Virology, or a related field. You possess a deep, structural understanding of bacteriophage genomics, phage-host interactions, and bacterial defense systems.
The Systems Thinker: You don’t need to be at the wet bench; you want to operate at the network level. You know how to translate messy biological realities (plaque assays, sequencing data, burst sizes) into clean, structured logic for software and AI.
The Bridge-Builder: You can speak three languages fluently: the biology of viral genomics to our external lab partners, the structure of datasets to our AI engineers, and the clinical implications to hospital pharmacists.
