Job Summary:
**Contract (W-2), approximately 3 months, with potential to extend or convert to a full-time position**
Fortis Fire & Safety is looking for an experienced Contract Talent Sourcer to build strong candidate pipelines across our brands and branch locations, with a focus on skilled trades and field service roles. You'll develop sourcing strategies, engage passive and active candidates, conduct initial screening, and deliver qualified talent to our recruiters and hiring managers.
This is a full-time, on-site position based in our Schaumburg, IL office. Work is primarily performed at a computer in a standard office setting.

As a temporary contract position, this role is not eligible for the medical, dental, vision, 401(k), disability, or other company benefits referenced in the standard compensation language below. It accrues paid leave under the Illinois Paid Leave for All Workers Act.
This position is performed in a standard office environment and involves extended periods of computer work. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop sourcing strategies for hard-to-fill and recurring roles, including market mapping and competitor talent research
Source candidates through job boards, professional networks, trade associations, referrals, and direct outreach
Build and maintain talent pipelines for roles such as fire sprinkler fitters, fire alarm technicians, inspectors, and service personnel
Write and send personalized outreach messages to engage passive candidates
Conduct initial phone screens to confirm interest, availability, and qualifications
Evaluate candidate certifications, licenses, and field experience against role requirements before handing off to recruiters
Advise recruiters and hiring managers on talent availability, market conditions, and realistic candidate profiles
Maintain accurate candidate records and sourcing activity in the applicant tracking system
Track and report on sourcing metrics such as response rates and candidates submitted
Follow company policy and applicable employment laws throughout sourcing and screening
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
3+ years of sourcing or full-cycle recruiting experience, with a proven track record of filling hard-to-find technical or skilled trades roles
Strong candidate search and research skills, including advanced search techniques (such as Boolean search) across LinkedIn, job boards, and niche or trade-specific sourcing channels
Demonstrated ability to engage passive candidates and deliver strong response and conversion rates
Experience supporting high-volume or multi-location hiring across several hiring managers at once
Ability to work independently with minimal ramp-up time
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in fire protection, life safety, or a related trade (such as sprinkler, fire alarm, suppression, electrical, low-voltage, or mechanical), either working in the field or recruiting for those roles
Working knowledge of fire protection credentials and career paths, including NICET certifications, state fire marshal licensing, and union and merit-shop apprenticeship programs
This pay range reflects the compensation rate Fortis Fire & Safety reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors such as experience and skillset. Compensation Rate
$40—$60 USD
This role may require extended periods of sitting or standing, movement around the office or job site, and operation of standard equipment. Physical activities can include reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Field positions may involve heavy lifting, working in varying climates (including outdoor conditions), construction or low-voltage environments, and exposure to dust, noise, or confined spaces. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required. Some roles may require travel.
