Role Description The Director of Airport Operations is a part-time, remote role responsible for overseeing operational planning and performance for airport-related consulting projects. This position manages day-to-day coordination of project activities, including monitoring operational metrics, optimizing workflows, and supporting process improvements that enhance efficiency and service quality. The Director collaborates with consulting teams and stakeholders to align operational plans with client expectations, budget constraints, and regulatory considerations. Key responsibilities include leading small project teams, reviewing operational data and reports, and providing strategic recommendations for airport operations, passenger experience, and resource allocation. The role also involves maintaining strong remote communication with clients and internal teams, ensuring timely delivery of project milestones and clear documentation of decisions and outcomes.
Qualifications
Strong operations management skills, with experience optimizing processes and coordinating complex airport or transportation operations.
Advanced analytical skills, including the ability to interpret operational data, identify trends, and develop data-driven recommendations.
Team management capabilities, with experience leading multidisciplinary teams, delegating tasks, and fostering collaboration in a remote environment.
Budgeting skills, including planning, tracking, and managing project or operational budgets to meet financial targets.
Customer service orientation, with a focus on improving passenger experience and stakeholder satisfaction within an airport context.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with capacity to prioritize multiple projects in a part-time, remote setting.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Transportation, Aviation, or a related field preferred.
Previous experience in airport operations, aviation consulting, or transportation logistics is highly beneficial.
Familiarity with regulatory and safety frameworks relevant to airport operations is a plus.
