Job Description
Our client is seeking a SCADA / Ignition Architect to own the global design and acceleration of its Ignition platform and related OT solutions across its data centers. This is a pure architecture role focused on maximum velocity, highest quality, and lowest cost, rather than day-to-day implementation. Hands-on keyboard time should trend toward zero, with the primary focus on design, standards, enablement, and organizational acceleration.
The Architect will partner closely with program management and engineering teams, continuously improving processes, standards, and partner utilization so that deployments scale without major production issues, snags, or rework. This role exists to help the organization move from roughly one Ignition rollout per month toward a pace of one per week or better, while eliminating waste in existing standards, best practices, and SOPs across the current install base of roughly 40 Ignition systems.
Success in this role is measured by how quickly the organization can roll out Ignition solutions globally without production issues or major setbacks, the inventiveness of ideas that compress timelines (such as gold images that cut infrastructure delivery time, or restructured partner accountability that offloads more work against existing SLAs), and the ability to keep personal hands-on time near zero while enabling the broader engineering team to execute independently and at higher volume.
Duties And Responsibilities
Drive global Ignition / SCADA / IoT architecture to achieve maximum rollout velocity with high quality and cost efficiency.
Partner with the program manager and engineering team to own the process so deployments scale without major production issues, snags, or rework.
Identify and lead initiatives that shorten timelines, such as gold images for Ignition that cut infrastructure delivery time, pushing more work to Ignition partners against existing SLAs, and simplifying multi-step SOPs.
Review and improve existing standards, best practices, and SOPs across the current ~40 Ignition installs, eliminating waste and collapsing steps to raise overall efficiency.
Set the architectural direction that enables the engineering team to execute independently and at higher volume, targeting a trajectory from roughly one rollout per month toward one per week or better.
Keep skills current with selective hands-on work, while keeping the primary focus on design, enablement, and organizational acceleration rather than implementation.
Required Experience/Skills
Significant SCADA / OT experience (ideal profile: approximately 10 years overall, including several years in an architecture capacity).
Global Ignition (Inductive Automation) experience.
Ability to operate at an architecture level, including process ownership, standards development, partner leverage, and cost/quality/velocity trade-offs.
Strong track record of driving global or multi-site solutions and continuous improvement.
Excellent collaboration skills with program managers, engineers, infrastructure teams, and external partners.
Nice-to-Haves
Data center, BMS, EPMS, and broader IoT experience.
Prior experience leading or participating in a global Ignition rollout.
Experience simplifying complex multi-step processes and establishing reusable standards and images.
