Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

About the Role :
ZestIOT Technologies is looking for a Senior Automation Engineer to design, build, and scale test automation across our product suite. You will own automation strategy for key modules, mentor engineers on best practices, and work closely with development and Functional QA to establish the automation testing coverage. This role combines strong hands-on automation engineering with the judgement to know when manual, exploratory testing is the right tool for the job.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks using Playwright and Selenium.
• Hands on Experience with Playwright MCP and AI Agents development.
• Write clean, maintainable automation scripts in Python, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Own end-to-end, regression, and API automation suites, integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
• Define automation strategy: what to automate, coverage targets, and framework architecture.
• Review test cases and automation scripts from other engineers; enforce coding and testing standards.
• Investigate test failures identify if its script issue or validate from functional team and log defect.
• Track and report automation coverage, execution health, and quality metrics to QA leadership.
• Mentor interns and mid-level QA engineers on automation practices and automation fundamentals.
• Manage and create Version control on Jenkins, and GIT
• Collaborate with DevOps to manage CI/CD Pipelines
• Enhance automation frameworks, Reusable libraires and Utility files.
• Design and maintain test data sets for automation frameworks, enabling efficient and repeatable test execution.
Required Skills & Experience :
• 5–8 years of overall QA experience, with a strong focus on test automation.
• Hands-on expertise with Playwright for web application automation.
• Hands-on expertise with Selenium WebDriver across browsers and environments.
• Strong programming skills in TypeScript and JavaScript.
• Hands-on proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, or tooling.
• Solid manual testing skills: test case design, exploratory testing, defect reporting, and root-cause triage.
• Experience with API testing and API automation (e.g.,Playwright, REST, Postman, or code-based frameworks).
• Practical experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
• Strong understanding of QA methodologies: functional, regression, smoke, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Familiarity with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows.
• Excellent analytical and debugging skills, with the ability to isolate issues across the stack.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, comfortable presenting quality status to cross-functional stakeholders.
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing data-driven test automation frameworks with data sources such as Excel (.xlsm), JSON, and XML.
Preferred / Nice to Have :
• Experience with performance or load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, k6).
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerized environments (Docker).
• Prior experience mentoring engineers or leading a small automation team.
• Familiarity with test management tools (e.g., TestRail, Zephyr, Xray).
Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
