Role Purpose:
The Assistant Manager – Taxation is responsible for managing direct and indirect tax compliances, supporting tax audits and assessments, ensuring adherence to Indian tax regulations, and providing tax related advice to internal stakeholders. The role requires strong knowledge of Indian taxation laws, including Income Tax, GST, TDS, and other statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct Tax Compliance:
Ensure timely computation, payment, and filing of corporate income tax returns.
Manage Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) compliance, including deductions, deposits, reconciliations, and quarterly return filings.
Review tax provisions and deferred tax calculations for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
Coordinate with consultants and tax authorities on assessments, notices, appeals, and litigation matters.
Confidential Information:
Indirect Tax Compliance:
Oversee GST compliance including monthly and annual return filings.
Review GST input tax credit reconciliations and ensure timely utilization.
Monitor GST compliance across business transactions and vendor payments.
Manage GST audits, assessments, notices, and departmental correspondence.
Ensure compliance with evolving GST regulations and advise stakeholders on implications.
Other Statutory and Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with Transfer Pricing filing and Transfer Pricing Audit
Assist in maintaining all documentation related to Transfer Pricing requirements
Ensure compliance with SEZ related monthly and annual fillings
Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, and government authorities.
Track tax law amendments and evaluate their impact on business operations.
Maintain documentation and records required for tax audits and regulatory reviews.
Process Improvement & Controls:
Strengthen tax compliance processes and internal controls.
Identify automation opportunities in tax reporting and compliance activities.
Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for tax processes.
Qualifications:
Education:
CA / CPA preferred.
CA Inter / CMA (US) may be considered with relevant experience.
Experience:
6 to 7 years of experience in corporate taxation, preferably in IT/ITES, multinational organizations, or consulting firms.
Hands-on experience in Direct Tax, GST, TDS, and statutory compliance.
