Backend Engineer — Intern

Role Description The Backend Engineer Intern role at Ethereal Labs is a full-time, on-site position based in Bengaluru. In this role, the intern will help design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs that power consumer-facing applications. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing server-side logic, integrating with databases, writing clean and testable code, and collaborating with front-end and product teams to deliver reliable features. The intern will assist in debugging issues, optimizing performance, and improving system scalability and security under the guidance of senior engineers. This position offers hands-on experience with modern backend technologies and development practices in a collaborative environment.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), with the ability to write clear, maintainable code.
Skills in Back-End Web Development and Software Development, including experience building or contributing to server-side applications.
Basic understanding of Front-End Development to effectively collaborate with client-side engineering teams.
Familiarity with common backend technologies and tools (e.g., one or more server-side languages, databases, RESTful APIs, version control such as Git).
Ability to learn quickly, work collaboratively in an on-site team setting, and communicate clearly about technical concepts.
Currently pursuing or having recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Interest in consumer product development, attention to detail, and a user-focused mindset.
