General Assistant

Baxterstorey is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic General Assistant/vending operative, to join our team in Wakefield. In this role, you will provide essential support to our catering and hospitality operations, ensuring smooth day-to-day service delivery. The successful candidate will be organised, efficient, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of customer service and food safety.
Assist with food preparation, plating, and presentation in accordance with company standards and health and safety regulations • Support the kitchen and service teams during busy periods, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas, including washing up, stock rotation, and general tidying
Assist with serving customers in a friendly and professional manner, taking orders and addressing queries • Handle basic cash transactions and till operations with accuracy and integrity • Support inventory management by checking stock levels and assisting with deliveries • Comply with all food hygiene and health and safety procedures at all times
Communicate effectively with team members to ensure seamless service delivery • Undertake additional duties as required to support the smooth running of operations
Driving round site filling vending machines with stock. Cleaning of the machines round site. Taking stock to each area counting what has been taken and used in each area.
Proven experience in a hospitality, catering, or food service environment (desirable) • Knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices, or willingness to obtain relevant certification • Strong people skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team • Excellent time keeping and reliability • Physical stamina to work on your feet for extended periods
Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards • Basic numeracy skills for handling cash and stock management • Flexibility to work varied shift patterns, including weekends and bank holidays • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and customers • Willingness to learn and develop within a fast-paced environment
