Generic professional competencies
Experience from working as a Project Officer or similar position in a humanitarian/recovery context
Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
Fluency in local languages, English both written and verbal
Expect to abide by office rules, regulations and policies within NRC
Context related skills, knowledge and experience
At least 3 years’ experience working in Education in Emergencies (EiE) or education programming in conflict-affected, displacement or other crisis contexts.
Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized university
Ability to use digital tools for communication, monitoring, data collection and programme reporting.
Experience with managing budgets and staff
Flexible, creative and co-operative

Generic Responsibilities

Coordinate the education activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets, and plans.
Ensure adherence to NRC policies and donor requirements.
Involve and inform communities, community leaders and other relevant stakeholders about the activities.
Break down the annual operational plans into weekly, monthly, and quarterly implementation plans.
Coordinate with relevant partners and other education stakeholders.
Ensure that procurement, development and distribution of teaching and learning materials are timely and according to procedures.
Supervise, train, and develop team and ensure proper filing of documents according to NRC procedures
Prepare periodic progress reports, statistics and other documents as required.
Investigate and facilitate introduction of new technology, methods, and approaches to improve the quality of the activities.
Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need and explore and assess new and better ways to assist, in line with NRC’s technical program.
Specific responsibilities:
These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired, or when the context strategy changes significantly.
Supervise and manage the work of the education technical assistants/community-based workers and report on their progress to the line managers.
Schedule and participate in training, implementation, running and follow-up of the project including monitoring and evaluation, teaching methodologies, education needs assessment, supervision, and field missions.
Actively promote the Right to Education (including in emergencies) with an understanding of Protection, Gender, Inclusion and Child Protection principles.
Build and maintain effective collaboration with existing education committees, community groups, youth-led organisations, and implementing partners to strengthen the quality, relevance and sustainability of education services.
