The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Laboratory Scientist to lead laboratory testing, analytical activities, method development, research programs, scientific investigations, quality control, data interpretation, and laboratory process improvement.
The ideal candidate will combine strong scientific expertise with practical laboratory leadership, analytical rigor, documentation discipline, and problem-solving capabilities. The role will support reliable experimental results, validated methods, regulatory and quality requirements, and continuous improvement of laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead laboratory testing, analytical, experimental, and research activities within the assigned scientific discipline.
Plan, execute, and document laboratory experiments according to approved protocols and scientific requirements.
Develop experimental plans, testing strategies, analytical approaches, and project timelines.
Perform complex laboratory analyses requiring advanced scientific judgment and technical expertise.
Select appropriate analytical techniques, instrumentation, materials, controls, and methodologies for assigned studies.
Develop, optimize, validate, and implement laboratory methods where applicable.
Evaluate existing analytical methods and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, sensitivity, precision, reproducibility, and efficiency.
Establish appropriate experimental controls, reference standards, acceptance criteria, and quality requirements.
Conduct laboratory testing in accordance with approved methods, protocols, SOPs, and quality standards.
Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instruments and analytical equipment.
Coordinate equipment calibration, qualification, preventive maintenance, and performance verification.
Identify instrument performance issues and coordinate corrective actions with technical or engineering teams.
Investigate unexpected, atypical, invalid, or out-of-specification laboratory results.
Conduct root-cause analysis for analytical failures, experimental deviations, data anomalies, and recurring laboratory issues.
Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions following laboratory investigations.
Review analytical data for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and scientific validity.
Perform statistical analysis and interpret experimental, analytical, and laboratory data.
Identify trends, anomalies, correlations, and significant findings within laboratory datasets.
Prepare technical reports, study reports, analytical summaries, research documentation, and scientific presentations.
Review laboratory records, raw data, calculations, worksheets, electronic records, and supporting documentation.
Ensure laboratory documentation is complete, traceable, contemporaneous, and appropriately controlled.
Maintain laboratory notebooks, test records, sample records, equipment logs, and study documentation.
Ensure sample identification, labeling, handling, storage, preparation, testing, and disposal comply with established requirements.
Maintain appropriate chain-of-custody and sample-tracking procedures where applicable.
Monitor sample integrity and investigate deviations that may affect analytical results.
Establish appropriate controls for reference materials, reagents, standards, consumables, and laboratory supplies.
Monitor laboratory inventory and coordinate timely replenishment of critical materials.
Evaluate reagent and consumable quality, expiration dates, storage conditions, and usage requirements.
Ensure laboratory work areas are clean, organized, safe, and suitable for assigned activities.
Maintain compliance with applicable laboratory safety, biosafety, chemical-safety, environmental, and occupational-health requirements.
Conduct laboratory risk assessments and implement appropriate controls for hazardous materials, equipment, and procedures.
Ensure appropriate use of personal protective equipment and laboratory safety procedures.
Participate in laboratory safety inspections, incident investigations, emergency preparedness, and corrective actions.
Support quality-management systems and ensure laboratory activities comply with applicable standards and internal requirements.
Prepare for and support laboratory audits, inspections, accreditation activities, and regulatory reviews.
Respond to audit findings and coordinate corrective and preventive actions.
Maintain controlled laboratory procedures, SOPs, work instructions, methods, forms, and technical documentation.
Review and update laboratory procedures based on scientific developments, equipment changes, process improvements, or regulatory requirements.
Ensure appropriate change-control processes are followed for analytical methods, equipment, systems, and laboratory procedures.
Participate in method-transfer, method-verification, method-validation, and laboratory-qualification activities where applicable.
Coordinate with Quality, Regulatory, Research, Engineering, Operations, and other technical teams on laboratory requirements.
Support research and development programs by designing experiments and evaluating scientific results.
Translate scientific questions and business requirements into practical laboratory testing plans.
Evaluate new technologies, analytical instruments, laboratory techniques, and scientific methodologies.
Conduct technical assessments and provide recommendations regarding laboratory equipment, methods, and technologies.
Support laboratory automation, digitalization, data-management, and workflow-improvement initiatives.
Evaluate opportunities to improve laboratory throughput, testing capacity, turnaround time, accuracy, and resource utilization.

Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate should have strong experience in laboratory science, analytical science, research and development, quality control, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, environmental science, food science, materials science, clinical laboratory science, or another relevant scientific discipline, depending on the organization's laboratory activities.
The candidate should demonstrate:
