Beyond design, we are the operational backbone for residential solar installers ready to scale, handling plan sets, engineering stamps, permit submissions, AHJ follow-ups, interconnection applications, and PTO, all tracked in Sunscape, our Solar OS. The Role
As a PV Design Manager, you are the technical and client-facing lead for our installer partners. You resolve urgent project issues, run executive-level design reviews, work directly with AHJs, utilities, and engineers, and help shape the standards and SOPs that let our team deliver at scale.
What You'll Do
Own day-to-day communication with assigned clients by email, phone, text, and meetings, ensuring requests are handled on time and the internal team stays aligned with each client's processes and expectations.
Track client satisfaction, NPS, quality, TAT, volume, and escalations; share volume projections internally and work with the team to close gaps.
Lead client onboarding, including welcome communications, CRM and process walkthroughs, and support on initial sample projects.
Manage Executive Reviews, urgent requests, and rush projects, coordinating with Design, Engineering, PE partners, AHJs, utilities, HOAs, and manufacturers to deliver answers and documentation on time and reduce repeat rejections.
Guide the Design team on plan set reviews, redlines, code requirements, and technical decisions.
Maintain the AHJ/utility standards database and manufacturer contacts, and keep design templates current with NEC/I-Code updates, new equipment, and product certifications.
Improve SOPs and workflows based on recurring issues, and identify opportunities to grow client partnerships with additional EnergyScape services.
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree required, Engineering or Design field preferred
5+ years of related experience in residential solar PV design, permitting, or project operations
2 to 3 years of hands-on CAD experience with strong AutoCAD proficiency
Working knowledge of the NEC, I-Codes, national building standards, AHJ requirements, and utility interconnection processes
Experience or knowledge of residential building practices
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro (replacing sheets, creating and editing PDFs), plus redlining in Bluebeam or similar tools
Experience with a CRM platform; HubSpot preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication with a client-first mindset
Ability to manage multiple tasks and a high volume of requests with speed and accuracy
Eager to learn, takes direction well, and is not afraid to ask questions
Must be based in and authorized to work in the United States
NABCEP certification is not required but is a plus
