Software Engineer II

For our client, we are seeking a Software Engineer II to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.
This role will help build and support backend systems that power core financial products and customer experiences. You will collaborate closely with product management and design teams, breaking down complex work into deliverable tasks while helping maintain performance, reliability, and operational readiness. The position also calls for thoughtful contributions to a distributed engineering environment, with ongoing maintenance and on-call responsibilities.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $128,000 – $188,000 annually
Responsibilities
Break down larger projects into manageable tasks and ensure timely delivery
Collaborate with product management and design teams throughout the product development lifecycle
Create and monitor performance metrics to support team operational availability
Participate in the interview process and other team-building activities
Support ongoing maintenance and on-call duties for team systems and artifacts
Qualifications
1.5+ years of software engineering experience
Proficiency in Python or Kotlin for backend system development
Familiarity with distributed system components, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes
Experience translating business scenarios into well-tested, extensible code
Ability to navigate and debug large codebases effectively
