Overview
Imagine spending your summer working alongside talented colleagues and inspirational leaders while gaining hands-on experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry.
As a Global Supply Chain Intern at AbbVie, you’ll contribute to meaningful projects that help enable the delivery of innovative products to patients around the world. Through mentorship, networking, leadership engagement, and intern-focused programming, you’ll develop the technical, analytical, and leadership skills while gaining experience in a global supply chain environment.
This is a paid, 11-week summer internship program designed for students who are curious, collaborative, and eager to solve real business challenges. This internship serves as a foundation for continued growth and can provide a pathway into a structured development experience, building the capabilities and readiness needed for future manager-level roles within Supply Chain. It builds on our internship pipeline and prepares talent for long-term career success.
What You’ll Do
As an AbbVie Global Supply Chain Intern, you will work with a dedicated mentor and experienced professionals in your area of interest, and may:
Analyze supply, demand, inventory, logistics, and operational data
Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, and operational performance
Collaborate with cross-functional and global teams to develop solutions
Prepare project updates as assigned and present recommendations to business stakeholders
Engage with company leaders to learn about AbbVie’s strategy, business, and future
Build a professional network through social events, educational sessions, and intern activities
Present your project accomplishments and recommendations to AbbVie leaders at the conclusion of the internship
Projects may include:
Improve flow planning for finished products, raw materials, or finishing supplies
Analyze warehouse and/or vendor operations, systems, or performance
Conduct demand or supply planning initiatives
Identify inventory or logistics improvement opportunities
Develop data-driven recommendations to improve supply chain processes
Support operational excellence initiatives by identifying process improvements, reducing inefficiencies, and developing solutions to improve business performance
Potential Areas of Experience
Interns during summer 2027 will be assigned to one of the following Supply Chain functional areas, based on business needs, academic background, and skills, including:
Demand Planning: Enables alignment of demand and supply over a 24-month horizon
Supply Planning: Ensures capacity and capabilities support short-term and long-term demand signals
Brand Management: Facilitates alignment of assets across Operations, Commercial, and Manufacturing
Logistics and Distribution / Warehouse Operations: Operates secure and compliant warehousing that enables timely and efficient distribution of products to our patients
Supply Chain Data & Analytics: Oversees the global master data quality, governance, integration, compliance, and enablement
Patient Access Operations: Provides patient access and support services, and manage Patient Assistance Programs
Process Improvement and Operational Excellence: Drives standardized, efficient, and scalable processes through continuous improvement, performance optimization, and best-practice implementation

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be currently enrolled in university, pursuing a bachelor’s degree program in supply chain, business, engineering, or related major / discipline
Must be enrolled in a university for the semester following the internship and be expected to graduate within one year after completing the internship
Expected graduation date between December 2027 – June 2028
Demonstrated leadership through extracurricular activities, academic projects, employment, or other experiences
Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
Effective communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to manage complex problems and drive actions through completion
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
Familiarity with SAP or a similar business system
Experience with Microsoft Power BI for dashboards and data insights
Strong academic performance, minimum cumulative GPA = 3.0/4.0
