Nurse Assistant-MICU

The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is a dynamic 68-bed unit divided into six pods spanning two floors, where you'll care for some of the region's most critically ill medical patients. As a primary referral center, our MICU attracts complex cases from across the state, making it an exceptional learning environment. Nurse Assistant Position Summary:
Working under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), you'll deliver compassionate patient care that prioritizes safety, comfort, and dignity. You'll be instrumental in reducing patient injury risk through attentive patient positioning and mobility support. Your contributions extend beyond daily tasks—you'll actively partner with the RN in planning and implementing individualized patient care, respond decisively to emergent situations, and embrace continuous learning opportunities. Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct patient care support including positioning, turning, and mobility assistance to ensure patient safety and prevent complications
Collaborate with the nursing team to implement patient care plans and communicate observations that inform clinical decision-making
Respond promptly and professionally to patient needs and emergent situations following established protocols
Maintain a clean, safe patient environment and assist with activities of daily living
Actively participate in ongoing education and professional development to enhance clinical knowledge and skills
Demonstrate compassion, teamwork, and accountability in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
Must meet one of the following required criteria:
Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles for similar programs may vary; e.g., Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Patient Assistant Technician (PAT)) but perform the same job role.
Completion of a Medical Assistant program with or without experience.
At least one (1) year of previous experience in an NA, PCT, PAT, or similar job role.
May be currently enrolled in a nursing program and have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course.
Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license
Certifications/Licensures:
Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) license preferred.
Complete BLS Heartsaver Certification during orientation.
