Role Description This is a part-time, remote Backend Web Developer role that is unpaid and open to beginners seeking practical experience. The Backend Web Developer will contribute to building and maintaining web platforms that power SJA Pathway’s AI-driven tools, focusing on server-side logic, APIs, databases, and integration with front-end components. Day-to-day tasks may include designing and implementing backend features, writing clean and maintainable code, debugging and optimizing performance, collaborating with front-end developers on data flows, and ensuring security and reliability of web services. The role may also involve participating in code reviews, documenting technical solutions, and learning modern development practices under guidance from more experienced team members. This position is intended to help early-stage developers build a portfolio, develop practical skills, and gain exposure to real-world projects.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess skills in Back-End Web Development and general Web Development, including working with server-side frameworks, APIs, and databases.
Candidates should possess skills in Front-End Development and Web Design to collaborate effectively on user-facing components and ensure smooth integration between front-end and back-end.
Candidates should possess Programming skills, such as proficiency in at least one backend language (e.g., JavaScript/Node.js, Python, Java, or similar) and an understanding of version control tools.
Basic understanding of web architectures, RESTful services, and security best practices is beneficial.
Ability to learn quickly, follow technical guidance, and work collaboratively in a remote environment is expected.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and clear written communication are advantageous.
Prior coursework, personal projects, or internships in web development are a plus, but not required.
