Role Description The Assistant Production Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at Aakavi Coir Mills in Kangeyam. This role supports the Production Manager in planning daily production schedules, coordinating material availability, and allocating workforce and machinery to meet output targets. The position involves monitoring production lines, ensuring product quality, and enforcing safety and housekeeping standards across the plant. The Assistant Production Manager tracks production data, reports variances, and works with maintenance and procurement teams to minimize downtime and material shortages. The role also includes training and guiding operators, resolving shop-floor issues, and assisting in process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in production or manufacturing environments, preferably in textiles, coir, or agro-based industries.
Ability to plan and monitor daily production activities, including scheduling, resource allocation, and shift coordination.
Knowledge of basic quality control practices, safety procedures, and compliance with workplace regulations.
Strong people management skills, with the ability to guide operators, handle shop-floor issues, and support team performance.
Competence in using production reports and basic MS Office tools to track output, downtime, and efficiency metrics.
Good communication and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a focus on continuous improvement.
Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Production, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred; relevant experience may substitute.
Willingness to work on-site in Kangeyam and be present on the shop floor as needed for supervision and coordination.
