Backend Engineer

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale reliable backend systems powering financial and data-driven products. The role involves working on APIs, microservices, data workflows, integrations, and cloud infrastructure, with strong ownership of scalability, performance, reliability, and production systems.
What You'll Do
Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable backend services and APIs.
Own backend features and services across the complete development lifecycle.
Design efficient database schemas, queries, data models, and service architectures.
Build integrations with internal platforms and external financial/technology services.
Develop asynchronous workflows using queues, events, and background processing.
Improve system scalability, performance, reliability, and fault tolerance.
Deploy, monitor, and operate services on cloud infrastructure.
Identify and resolve production issues and performance bottlenecks.
Write high-quality, testable, maintainable code and contribute to engineering best practices.
Collaborate with product, frontend, data, and ML teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
Participate in system design, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making.
Must have
3–5 years of hands-on experience in backend software engineering. Strong proficiency in Python or Java with solid software engineering fundamentals. Experience building and operating REST APIs and backend services in production. Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, OOP, system design, and distributed systems. Strong SQL skills with hands-on experience in PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar relational databases. Experience with database design, indexing, query optimisation, and transaction management. Hands-on experience with microservices, asynchronous processing, queues, or event-driven systems. Experience deploying and operating applications on AWS, GCP, or Azure. Strong understanding of Docker, CI/CD, Git, testing, logging, and production debugging. Ability to independently own backend features from design through deployment and production support.
Good to have
Experience with Django, FastAPI, Flask, Spring Boot, or similar backend frameworks. Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis, SQS, or other messaging systems. Hands-on experience with AWS services such as ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, SQS, Lambda, and CloudWatch. Experience with Redis, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, or other NoSQL/caching technologies. Understanding of caching, concurrency, load balancing, rate limiting, fault tolerance, and high availability. Experience building high-throughput or low-latency backend systems. Exposure to AI/ML platforms or data-intensive applications. Experience in fintech, lending, credit, payments, risk, or financial services. Familiarity with observability, monitoring, distributed tracing, and performance optimisation.
