The Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our growing team on a permanent or 12-month fixed-term contract basis. This is a remote-first, UK-based role, with occasional travel to London, likely around twice a month.
You will play a key role in designing, building and maintaining secure, scalable cloud infrastructure and DevOps solutions, working closely with architects, developers and security teams within a Central Government environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build and maintain secure, scalable AWS cloud infrastructure
Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code, primarily using Terraform
Deploy and manage containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes/EKS
Build, maintain and optimise CI/CD pipelines
Monitor, troubleshoot and improve the reliability and performance of cloud infrastructure
Apply appropriate security controls and engineering best practices within highly regulated environments
Collaborate with architects, developers and security specialists to deliver technical solutions
Contribute to technical decision-making, engineering standards and continuous improvement
Take ownership of technical solutions and support the development of robust, maintainable engineering practices
Essential Requirements
Active SC Clearance – mandatory
Proven experience delivering technology solutions within UK Central Government
Strong hands-on experience as a DevOps Engineer, working across cloud infrastructure and automation
Strong experience with AWS, including services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, IAM, VPC and CloudWatch
Strong Terraform / Infrastructure as Code experience
Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes, ideally AWS EKS
Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Jenkins
Strong understanding of DevOps principles and secure cloud engineering
Experience working within Agile, multi-disciplinary teams
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take ownership of technical solutions
Important Information
Location: Remote-first, UK-based
London travel: Occasional onsite travel, likely around twice a month
Engagement: Permanent or 12-month fixed-term contract
Clearance: Active SC Clearance is mandatory
