Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Python Developer / Data Engineer with 8+ years of hands-on experience in Python, SQL, data structures and algorithms (ADT), and Databricks. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining scalable data processing solutions and applications.
The ideal candidate should have strong programming fundamentals, excellent SQL skills, experience working with large datasets, and practical expertise in Databricks and distributed data processing.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable applications and data-processing solutions using Python.
Write efficient, complex SQL queries, stored procedures, transformations, and data-validation logic.
Apply strong knowledge of Data Structures and Algorithms (ADT) to develop efficient and maintainable solutions.
Develop and optimize data pipelines and processing workflows using Databricks.
Work with Apache Spark / PySpark for large-scale data processing.
Perform data transformation, cleansing, aggregation, and validation.
Optimize Python, SQL, and Spark workloads for performance and scalability.
Troubleshoot production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
Implement reusable, modular, and well-tested code following software engineering best practices.
Collaborate with data engineers, architects, analysts, QA teams, and business stakeholders.
Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and solution design.
Develop unit and integration tests and ensure production-quality deliverables.
Work with Agile/Scrum teams and contribute to sprint planning, estimation, and delivery.
Required Technical Skills
8+ years of professional software/data engineering experience.
Strong hands-on experience with Python.
Strong knowledge of SQL, including complex joins, subqueries, CTEs, window functions, and query optimization.
Strong understanding of Data Structures and Algorithms (ADT).
Hands-on experience with Databricks.
Strong experience with PySpark / Apache Spark.
Good understanding of ETL/ELT concepts and data pipelines.
Experience working with large-volume datasets and distributed processing.
Knowledge of data modeling and database concepts.
Experience with Git and standard software development practices.
Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Azure/AWS/GCP cloud platforms.
Experience with Delta Lake and Databricks Workflows.
Knowledge of Databricks SQL and performance tuning.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with REST APIs and Python-based services.
Knowledge of Airflow or other workflow orchestration tools.
Experience working in enterprise/client-facing environments.
Exposure to data governance, security, and data-quality frameworks.
Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Equivalent professional experience may also be considered.
