Help a UK not-for-profit CIC complete and strengthen a live social-impact platform that delivers a unique skills-based charitable fundraising solution.
Work across React/TypeScript and Python/FastAPI, w/ opportunities to contribute to mobile, testing, APIs and AI-enabled features.
What difference will you make?
TGN is at an important stage. The model and community already exist and the new platform is in UAT, but additional experienced engineering capacity would help us move more quickly through feature delivery, testing, refinement and launch.
Our immediate need is not simply more developer headcount. We need people who can take ownership of bounded technical problems, work productively within an existing codebase and reduce rather than increase the supervision burden on our core technical team.

What are we looking for?
We are looking for an experienced engineer who can operate confidently within an existing production codebase and take meaningful ownership of defined work.
The strongest candidates are likely to have
Professional experience building and maintaining production software, or equally strong evidence of operating at that level.
Strong React and TypeScript capability.
Strong Python experience, ideally including FastAPI or a similar API framework.
Confidence working with Git/GitHub and collaborating asynchronously.
The ability to investigate problems independently, raise blockers early and make sensible technical decisions without extensive day-to-day supervision.
Good judgement around testing, maintainability, security and data handling.
A practical, collaborative and low-ego approach.
Useful Additional Experience Includes
PostgreSQL and Redis.
React Native/mobile development.
Expo / EAS familiarity.
Playwright or other automated testing.
CI/CD.
API and third-party integrations.
AI or LLM-enabled product features.
You do not need experience in every part of the stack. We are more interested in strong engineering judgement and the ability to make a useful contribution than in somebody matching every technology perfectly.
We particularly welcome experienced engineers between roles, consultants with spare capacity, people on career breaks or sabbaticals, semi-retired developers and engineers who simply want to use their professional skills on a meaningful pro-bono project.

What will you be doing?
Time to Give Network (TGN) is a UK Community Interest Company building a skills-based charitable fundraising platform. Professionals make selected time, experience and expertise available in support of a charity they choose. Another professional can request the interaction; the TimeGiver decides whether to accept; and, when an approved opportunity is secured, the donation goes to the TimeGiver’s chosen charity. The TimeGiver receives no personal payment.
Our next-generation platform is already in UAT. We are looking for an experienced volunteer engineer who can contribute to an existing codebase and take ownership of clearly defined pieces of work with limited day-to-day supervision. This is not a request to build a prototype from scratch.
Depending on your experience and interests, you may
Build and refine features across our React/TypeScript front end and FastAPI/Python back end.
Work with PostgreSQL and Redis.
Investigate and resolve UAT issues, defects and edge cases.
Design or improve APIs, integrations and application flows.
Contribute to React Native/mobile development where relevant.
Help with automated testing, code review and maintainability.
Contribute to AI-enabled functionality around profile enhancement, conversational intent, search and matching.
Improve technical quality and delivery discipline within a small, mission-led team.
We are particularly interested in people who can understand an existing product quickly, break down ambiguous issues and return reviewable work without needing step-by-step direction.
The platform is being rebuilt to support our next stage of growth, including expansion from the UK into the USA. Individual contributions can therefore have a very visible effect on a real product and its future charitable impact.
