ABOUT THE ROLE
The AI Platform Engineer is a senior individual contributor responsible for the technical foundation of Matter Health’s AI-driven solutions. In this hands-on role, you will own the organization’s AI platform strategy, governance, and budget while designing and maintaining the tools, environments, integrations, and architecture that enable teams to build and deploy AI agents and workflows.
You will serve as Matter Health’s senior technical authority on AI, setting the roadmap for organizational AI and agent capabilities. You will partner closely with Software Engineering, Information Security and Compliance, and clinical and operational leaders to ensure solutions built on the platform are secure, reliable, measurable, and ready to scale in a regulated healthcare environment.
This is a remote role, with candidates in Nashville or Memphis, Tennessee, preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the roadmap, technical architecture, and ongoing operation of Matter Health’s AI platform.
- Select and establish the tools, environments, and integration patterns used to build, test, and deploy AI agents and workflows, including the MCP layer and RPA integrations.
- Set technical standards and governance practices for AI development and deployment.
- Manage the AI platform budget and evaluate new vendor contracts and platform investments in partnership with the CTO.
- Build and maintain a secure, well-instrumented platform that supports teams across the organization.
- Partner with Software Engineering, Information Security and Compliance, and clinical and operational leaders to address technical, security, and workflow requirements.
- Guide builders using the platform and help resolve complex technical issues.
- Measure the business impact of the platform and use those findings to guide improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
- Significant experience designing, building, and operating software platforms or enterprise AI solutions.
- Hands-on experience with AI agents, workflow automation, and the integrations needed to connect AI tools with existing systems.
- Experience establishing technical architecture, development standards, and governance for solutions used across multiple teams.
- Strong understanding of security, reliability, monitoring, and incident response for production systems.
- Ability to evaluate technical vendors, manage platform investments, and communicate recommendations to senior leadership.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to work with technical, clinical, and operational partners.
PREFERRED
- Experience building AI solutions in healthcare or another regulated environment.
- Experience with MCP architecture and RPA integrations.
- Experience supporting distributed teams and complex operational workflows.
