Role Description The Fashion Designer at Ruchs™ is an on-site role based in Gurgaon, focused on creating sustainable, modular apparel that aligns with the brand’s eco-conscious and technology-driven vision. In this role, the designer develops original concepts, sketches, and digital designs, collaborating closely with product development, merchandising, and production teams to translate ideas into market-ready collections. Day-to-day responsibilities include working with virtual sampling tools, refining fits and silhouettes, selecting fabrics and trims with sustainability in mind, and ensuring design consistency across product lines. The Fashion Designer also researches trends, materials, and technologies, contributes to mood boards and collection themes, and supports the integration of AR fashion tech and AI design methods into the creative process.
Qualifications
Strong fashion design skills, including concept development, sketching (digital and hand), and constructing modular or multi-functional garments.
Proficiency with design and visualization tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CAD software, and familiarity with virtual sampling or 3D fashion design platforms.
Demonstrated understanding of sustainable fashion principles, eco-friendly materials, and low-waste pattern cutting or production methods.
Ability to research and interpret fashion trends, consumer preferences, and emerging technologies (including AR fashion tech and AI-assisted design) to inform collections.
Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with cross-functional teams in design, sourcing, production, and marketing.
Attention to detail, time management, and the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, innovation-focused environment.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field; prior experience in sustainable or tech-enabled fashion is an advantage.
Comfort working on-site in Gurgaon and engaging in hands-on sampling, fittings, and coordination with local vendors and manufacturers.
