Position: Attorney (Defense litigation)
Location: New York, NY
Duration: 12 months+ Contract with high possibility of extension!!!
Pay rate: $110/hr
Note:
REMOTE role. [Remote with occasional in office meetings]
Work schedule: 35-40 hours/ week [Mon-Fri]
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The vision is to create an attorney pool to assist Legal Services with back-office work. While commercial litigation and mass tort will be serviced, general litigation is the most significant need. The candidate will assist attorneys in pre-trial work; no court or deposition coverage is envisioned. Preparing draft answers, reviewing file post-note of issue for completeness, drafting dispositive or other motions, summarizing depositions or medical records, writing up requests for authority, researching verdicts and/or issues, and preparing memos.
Draft motions, including motions for summary judgment.
Strong Defense background
Review medical records.
Assist with case evaluations.
Collaborate on trial strategy.
Identify legal issues and potential case risks.
Support litigation matters involving tort and liability claims.
MUST HAVE Critical Skills:
5-8 years of experience.
Experience working for: Insurance defense firms, and/or Carrier legal departments (AIG Staff Counsel-type environment).
Understanding of carrier reporting requirements.
Ability to identify litigation risks and issues early.
NICE TO HAVE technologies / Skills:
Defense-side litigation experience.
Tort and liability litigation.
