About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
We are seeking a driven, self-motivated Commercial Truck Insurance Sales Agent to join our growing team. In this role, you will sell tailored commercial auto and trucking liability coverage to independent owner-operators, motor carriers, and fleet operators across the US. You will prospect leads, assess policyholder risk profiles, navigate FMCSA/DOT regulatory compliance mandates, and structure competitive insurance packages (Primary Auto Liability, Motor Truck Cargo, Physical Damage, General Liability).
Key Responsibilities
Prospecting & Lead Generation: Identify and connect with potential clients including owner-operators, fleet managers, and logistics companies using outbound cold calling, CRM data, industry databases, and referral networks.
Risk Assessment & Coverage Structuring: Analyze prospective client loss runs, driver motor vehicle records (MVRs), vehicle maintenance profiles, and FMCSA safety ratings to recommend coverage limits and policy endorsements.
Pipeline Management: Guide prospects through the complete sales cycle—from initial consultation and premium quoting to bind requests and policy issuance.
Regulatory Guidance: Educate trucking clients on federal and state filing requirements (e.g., FMCSA Form MCS-90, BMC-91X, state filings) to ensure full operational compliance.
Carrier Underwriting Collaboration: Coordinate with wholesale brokers and managing general agents (MGAs) to secure competitive rates across various commercial auto carriers.
Client Retention: Conduct policy reviews prior to annual renewals, identifying cross-selling opportunities (such as Trailer Interchange, Non-Trucking Liability, or Workers' Compensation).
