Role Description This is a part-time remote role for a Fractional CTO (Client-Facing / Delivery & Stakeholder Management). The role involves leading technical discovery with clients, translating business objectives into actionable IT strategies, and shaping solution architecture for new and existing products. The Fractional CTO will oversee delivery planning, coordinate with development teams, and ensure projects meet quality, timeline, and budget expectations. Day-to-day activities include managing stakeholder communication, conducting technical reviews, providing guidance on software development practices, and aligning product roadmaps with long-term technology vision. The person in this role will also help establish standards for security, scalability, and maintainability, while mentoring client and internal teams on best practices.
Qualifications
Strong background in Software Development and Architecture, with the ability to design scalable, secure, and maintainable systems.
Demonstrated experience in Project Management and Delivery Management, including planning, execution oversight, and risk mitigation.
Proven capability in IT Strategy and Product Development, translating business needs into roadmaps, technical approaches, and measurable outcomes.
Excellent client-facing communication and stakeholder management skills, including facilitation, expectation setting, and negotiation.
Experience working in remote, distributed teams and across time zones, using modern collaboration and project tracking tools.
Knowledge of cloud platforms (such as AWS, Azure, or GCP), modern development frameworks, and DevOps or CI/CD practices.
Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on technical review, code or architecture assessment, and practical guidance to teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience with international clients or multi-cultural environments is beneficial; familiarity with the Japanese market is a plus.
