FDE Software Engineer

Role Description The FDE Software Engineer will contribute to designing, implementing, and maintaining features across Saddle Pass’s full-stack platform, ensuring a reliable and intuitive experience for riders, horse owners, and service providers. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with product and design on technical solutions, writing clean and efficient code, reviewing pull requests, and troubleshooting issues to improve performance, scalability, and security. The engineer will help integrate third-party services, refine APIs, and support continuous deployment and testing practices. This is a part-time remote role, offering flexibility while requiring consistent communication, documentation of work, and proactive participation in distributed team collaboration.
Qualifications
Strong proficiency in full-stack software development, including at least one modern backend language (e.g., Python, Node.js, Ruby, or Go) and a frontend framework (e.g., React, Vue, or Angular).
Experience with web application architecture, RESTful or GraphQL APIs, and database design using relational or NoSQL databases.
Comfort with version control and DevOps practices, including Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Knowledge of testing methodologies and tools, such as unit, integration, and end-to-end testing frameworks.
Ability to write clear technical documentation and collaborate effectively in a remote, asynchronous environment.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a focus on performance, reliability, and security.
Relevant degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Interest or experience in the equestrian industry is beneficial, along with the willingness to learn domain-specific workflows and user needs.
