Founding UI/UX Frontend Engineer

Zavvis is building a financial observability layer that gives corporate finance teams continuous visibility into their financial operations.
Inspired by how engineering observability transformed monitoring of complex systems, Zavvis applies similar principles to financial data to help finance teams understand what changed, why it changed, and what requires attention before surprises reach month-end.
We already have a working product and core backend capabilities in production. We are now looking for an exceptional UI/UX Frontend Engineer to join the founding team and help transform the product into a polished, intuitive and enterprise-grade experience.
This is not a role for someone who only implements Figma files.
We are looking for someone who can both design excellent product experiences and build them in code.
What you’ll work on
Dramatically refining the visual quality and usability of the Zavvis web application
Designing and building polished React interfaces for finance workflows
Improving information hierarchy, layout, spacing, typography, interaction design and visual consistency
Turning complex financial information into interfaces that feel simple, clear and trustworthy
Improving conversational AI experiences, evidence views, financial signals, root-cause analysis and investigation workflows
Designing high-quality data tables, cards, charts, drill-down experiences and financial visualizations
Creating reusable frontend components and a coherent design system
Improving responsive behavior, loading states, empty states, transitions and interaction details
Working directly in the existing frontend codebase rather than handing designs off to another engineer
Collaborating closely with the founder, AI/backend engineers and data team
Iterating rapidly based on live product testing, user feedback and pilot requirements
Helping define what a world-class financial observability product should feel like
What we’re looking for
Strong experience with React / modern frontend development
Exceptional product design and UI/UX judgment
Strong visual design fundamentals: typography, spacing, hierarchy, composition and interaction design
Ability to take an existing product that feels rough and independently improve it substantially
Experience designing and building complex SaaS or enterprise applications
Strong ability to translate dense information into simple, intuitive interfaces
Experience working with data-heavy products, dashboards, tables, charts or analytical workflows
Strong attention to detail and a high visual quality bar
Comfortable moving between design decisions and production code
Comfortable working in a fast-moving early-stage environment
Experience with TypeScript, Tailwind, component libraries, design systems, Figma, financial software, AI products, analytics products or enterprise SaaS is a plus, but not required.
We care much more about the quality of products you have designed and shipped than titles or years of experience.
A strong portfolio or examples of real products you personally designed and implemented will matter significantly.
The profile we are looking for
The ideal person sits somewhere between a senior product designer and a strong frontend engineer.
You should be able to look at a screen and immediately recognize:
weak visual hierarchy
inconsistent spacing
poor typography
unnecessary borders or containers
confusing information density
awkward interaction patterns
weak states and transitions
opportunities to simplify a workflow
And then be able to open the codebase and fix it yourself.
We are especially interested in people with strong taste who are opinionated about product quality but pragmatic enough to ship quickly.
Stage & opportunity
Zavvis is currently bootstrapped and preparing for pilots while raising outside capital. We are not yet in a position to offer a conventional salary for this role.
We are looking for someone interested in joining at the founding-team stage, with an ownership/equity-oriented structure and the intention to transition to paid compensation as funding or customer revenue comes in.
We would use the first month as an intensive working period to evaluate execution, ownership, product judgment and long-term fit, with the opportunity to agree on a meaningful ongoing role and equity participation.
We are moving quickly and want someone who can join the current sprint and help us make the product significantly more polished and pilot-ready before the end of Q4.
