Leshai is an independent, Toronto-based digital publication covering culture, entertainment, media, lifestyle, fashion, beauty, relationships, travel, and the conversations shaping the world today.
Through journalism, commentary, and creative storytelling, Leshai explores the stories, trends, and ideas influencing how people watch, listen, shop, think, and connect — from film and television to music, internet culture, and everyday life.
We aim to offer a fresh, personal perspective on modern culture while asking meaningful questions, sparking conversation, and making sense of the topics people are already talking about.

About the Opportunity
We're looking for writers and emerging contributors who have something interesting to say — whether that's a strong opinion, a compelling story idea, a cultural observation, a personal essay, or a reported feature.
You don't have to be an experienced journalist. We're interested in good writers with a distinct voice, curiosity, and something worth saying.
This is currently an unpaid volunteer contributor opportunity as Leshai continues to grow.
What you'll do
Pitch original story ideas that align with Leshai's editorial voice
Write original articles, essays, reviews, interviews, and features
Research and fact-check stories using credible sources
Work with the editor to develop, refine, and strengthen your ideas
Meet agreed-upon editorial deadlines
Occasionally participate in interviews and other editorial projects

Qualifications
Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to create clear, engaging, and original content
Research and fact-checking skills, including the ability to find credible sources and verify information
Editing and proofreading skills, with strong attention to accuracy and clarity
Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and communicate effectively in a remote environment
Familiarity with basic SEO principles is an asset
Previous experience with blogs, school publications, journalism, or personal writing projects is an asset, but not required
A willingness to learn and contribute thoughtful, original perspectives
Writers from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of experiences are encouraged to apply
