About the role

ABOUT ESW
eSoftware Associates Inc. is a nationwide U.S.-based Microsoft partner delivering Power Platform, SharePoint, Microsoft 365, and Azure solutions to commercial, nonprofit, and public-sector clients. Our work includes migrations, custom business applications, workflow automation, Copilot and AI agent deployments, and Microsoft end-user training.
We are adding a part-time Project Manager to own delivery on assigned client engagements. This is an accountable delivery role within a structured, phase-gated process, not an administrative or coordination position.
SCOPE OF WORK
You will manage delivery on assigned ESW client engagements across the Microsoft stack. Typical projects include SharePoint Online migrations and modernization, Power Platform application and automation builds, Microsoft 365 tenant and governance work, Copilot and Power Platform AI deployments, Excel and Office solution development, and Microsoft training programs. Engagements progress through kickoff, build, internal validation, client user acceptance testing, training, go-live, and closeout, and you are the single accountable owner of that sequence on the projects assigned to you.
Project size ranges from single-department solutions to enterprise migrations. You will typically hold several concurrent engagements at different phases, working directly with client business stakeholders and client IT alongside ESW developers, solution architects, and trainers.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
● Engagement ownership. you are the named delivery lead and primary client contact on assigned projects, from kickoff through closeout. You lead kickoff meetings, requirements and discovery sessions, and recurring status calls.
● Project planning. you build and maintain timelines, milestones, phase gates, dependencies, and resource assignments, and you keep project status current in ESW systems of record.
● Quality gates. you confirm the build against approved scope, verify that internal validation is completed and documented before any deliverable reaches the client, and manage client user acceptance testing through to sign-off.
● Scope and change control. you identify scope change when it arises, document it, size it with leadership, and obtain written client approval before additional work proceeds.
● Risk and issue management. you maintain a current risk status on each engagement, drive mitigation, and escalate to leadership with a recommended course of action.
● Resource coordination. you direct developers, solution architects, trainers, and project coordinators against the plan, and you confirm capacity and estimates before committing a date to a client.
● Effort and budget management. you track delivered hours against estimate and report variance to leadership while corrective action is still possible.
● Client communication. you issue written meeting recaps, status reports, and decision records, set phase expectations with the client in advance, and manage schedule, cost, and scope discussions directly.
● Documentation and closeout. you maintain requirements, decisions, validation results, and project records throughout the engagement and complete a documented handoff at closeout.
CORE REQUIREMENTS
● Delivery ownership. five or more years managing client-facing technology or software projects end to end, accountable for schedule, scope, and client outcome, in a consulting, professional services, or systems integration environment.
● Microsoft project experience. you have delivered projects involving Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, Power Platform, Teams, or Azure. You are not expected to build the solution, but you must understand what is being built well enough to plan it, question an estimate, and verify completion against scope.
● Concurrent engagements. you have managed multiple active client projects simultaneously, at different phases and for different clients, without loss of visibility on any of them.
● Scope and change control. you have run a formal change control process, including identifying out-of-scope requests and securing written approval before work proceeded.
● Quality discipline. you have enforced testing and validation requirements before a deliverable was released to a client, including holding a delivery date when quality criteria were not met.
● Risk management. you have taken an at-risk or delayed project and returned it to plan, and can describe the actions you took.
● Client communication. you can conduct a direct conversation with a client regarding a date, cost, or scope constraint and maintain the relationship.
● Written reporting. your status reports and recaps are clear and complete enough for a client executive to act on without follow-up.
● Remote independence. you work effectively in a distributed environment with limited supervision and consistent follow-through.
● Availability. up to 20 hours per week on a schedule agreed in advance, overlapping standard U.S. business hours, with meeting recaps issued within one business day.
SECONDARY REQUIREMENTS
● Microsoft depth. working familiarity with SharePoint Online migrations, Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, Power BI, Copilot Studio, Microsoft Graph, or Entra ID.
● Microsoft partner environment. experience delivering within a Microsoft partner, reseller, or Microsoft-focused consulting practice.
● Requirements and scoping. experience gathering business requirements and contributing scope, assumptions, and estimates to a statement of work.
● Methodology. Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery methodology applied in a client services setting.
● AI-assisted delivery. responsible use of Microsoft Copilot or comparable tools to draft summaries, organize documentation, and accelerate reporting.
● Certification. PMP, CAPM, PMI-ACP, or Microsoft certifications such as MS-900, PL-900, or MS-102 are welcome and not required.
SCOPE BOUNDARIES
● This role owns delivery on assigned engagements. It does not set solution architecture, write production code, or carry a sales quota.
● Comparable backgrounds include IT Project Manager, Technical Project Manager, Delivery Manager, Engagement Manager, Implementation Manager, and senior Project Coordinators prepared to assume delivery accountability.
● U.S. work authorization is required. eSoftware Associates does not provide visa sponsorship.
SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE
Within ninety days, every engagement you hold has a current project plan, a documented risk status, a completed internal validation record before anything reaches the client, and a client contacted within the past week. Scope changes are approved in writing before work begins, hours are tracked against estimate, and leadership can see the status of your projects without requesting it.
APPLICATION QUESTIONS
● Are you authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, and are you currently residing in the U.S.?
● How many years have you managed client-facing technology or software projects end to end?
● Which Microsoft technologies have you delivered projects around, and in what capacity?
● How many concurrent client engagements have you managed at one time, and at approximately what size and budget?
● Describe a project that fell behind schedule or exceeded budget, the actions you took, and the outcome.
● Describe your process for handling a client request that falls outside approved scope.
● Describe how you verify that a deliverable is complete and correct before it is released to a client.
● Which project management and task tracking platforms have you used?
● How many hours per week are you seeking, which days and windows are you available, and do you hold other commitments that would affect that availability?
