We are seeking an Enterprise Data Warehouse Architect to design and build our first cloud data warehouse on Snowflake for a multi-tenant SaaS platform. This role will own the architecture from the ground up, including data ingestion, modeling, governance, security, tenant isolation, reporting, AI/ML enablement, and secure client data sharing. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable building hands-on and mentoring a team that is new to data warehousing.
Key Responsibilities
Design and build the Snowflake data platform from scratch, including environments, data layers, RBAC, ingestion, transformations, orchestration, testing, monitoring, and CI/CD.
Develop pipelines from Microsoft SQL Server, evaluating CDC, Change Tracking, batch, and managed ingestion solutions.
Establish multi-tenant data architecture and security, including tenant isolation, row-level security, masking, encryption, auditing, retention, and compliance controls.
Architect solutions for historical data, high-volume reporting, and data archival, reducing the footprint and performance impact on core SQL Server databases.
Enable embedded/customer-facing analytics and reporting, including scalable query execution, caching, asynchronous processing, and cost controls.
Build governed data models and semantic layers to support AI/LLM-driven analytics and text-to-SQL, with appropriate security and query guardrails.
Design secure Snowflake data-sharing solutions for clients, including provisioning, access controls, monitoring, and revocation.
Partner with engineering and business stakeholders to evaluate Snowflake, AWS, Databricks, Redshift, and lakehouse architectures and make pragmatic technology decisions.
Mentor engineers new to data warehousing through pairing, code reviews, documentation, runbooks, and knowledge transfer, ultimately transitioning ownership to the internal team.
Required Experience:
8+ years in data engineering or architecture, including 3+ years of production Snowflake experience.
Proven experience building an enterprise data warehouse from the ground up.
Strong SQL Server expertise, including CDC/Change Tracking, large-scale data management, and performance optimization.
Hands-on experience with dbt, data modeling, and modern ingestion/orchestration tools.
Proven experience designing multi-tenant data platforms with strong tenant isolation.
Strong background in data security, governance, RBAC, row-level policies, masking, auditing, and compliance.
Solid AWS experience, particularly S3, IAM, and AWS AI/data services.
Ability to clearly communicate architectural trade-offs around ELT vs. ETL, batch vs. streaming, warehouse vs. lakehouse, cost, scalability, and data freshness.
Preferred Qualifications:
Embedded or customer-facing analytics experience.
Production experience with LLM, text-to-SQL, or AI-powered data products.
SnowPro Advanced certification.
Experience with licensing, rights management, royalty, or entitlement data.
Experience with Power BI, Sigma, Tableau, or similar BI platforms.
