We partner with operators running companies generating $1–2M in EBITDA, providing financial infrastructure, reporting, and operational support so they can focus on growing their businesses.
Our model pairs US-based Controllers, who lead each client engagement and own the client relationship, with a skilled, English-speaking finance team in Latin America that executes core finance functions across multiple companies.
The Role
As an Operational Finance Controller, you will lead the finance function for a portfolio of 7–10 US-based small businesses.
This is a hands-on controller role, not a pure FP&A position. You are accountable for the full finance function, including accounting operations, AR/AP oversight, reporting, and cash management. You will work with an offshore team in Latin America that prepares much of the day-to-day work, while you review, approve, and deliver it.
You will be the primary point of contact for acquisition entrepreneurs and business owners. You'll help them understand their numbers and operate more effectively, and you'll make sure every deliverable that reaches them is accurate and insightful.
Key Responsibilities
Engagement Leadership & Client Relationships
Lead each client engagement and serve as the primary finance partner to acquisition entrepreneurs and CEOs
Own the client relationship and financial service delivery across your portfolio
Present monthly results, cash position, and recommendations directly to operators
Proactively communicate with clients on financial performance, issues, and deadlines
Lead onboarding of newly acquired businesses
Identify inefficiencies and opportunities to improve margins and operations
Offshore Team Oversight & Review
Direct and review the work of your LATAM-based finance team across all entities
Set priorities, timelines, and quality standards for offshore deliverables
Review and approve month-end close, financial statements, and reporting packages before client delivery
Provide clear feedback and coaching to continuously raise the quality of team output
Ensure alignment with the Head of Finance Operations on priorities, quality, and execution
Monitor and ensure compliance with SLAs, timelines, and deliverables
Accounting & Financial Operations
Hold final accountability for end-to-end finance and accounting operations across multiple SMBs
Oversee core accounting processes (AR, AP, GL) executed by the offshore team
Ensure clean, accurate financial records and general ledgers
Coordinate with external accountants, tax advisors, and auditors as needed
Reporting & Financial Visibility
Review monthly financial statements per entity for accuracy and completeness
Translate reporting packages into clear, actionable insights for operators
Guide the design of KPI dashboards aligned to each business
Review variance analysis against budget and prior periods, and explain the story behind the numbers
Cash Flow Management (Core Focus)
Own cash flow visibility and management across all entities
Review and approve 13-week cash flow forecasts
Monitor liquidity and ensure operational sustainability
Identify risks and deliver actionable recommendations to operators
Drive working capital optimization (AR/AP coordination, timing)
Process, Controls & Compliance
Design and maintain practical internal controls for SMB environments
Ensure consistency and standardization across entities and team members
Maintain audit-ready documentation and organized records
Ensure compliance with US GAAP and accounting best practices
Requirements
5+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or controller roles
Strong experience managing full accounting cycles (AR, AP, GL)
Solid understanding of US GAAP
Experience working with small or mid-sized businesses
Experience managing multiple entities or clients simultaneously
Experience leading or reviewing the work of accounting teams (offshore or distributed teams preferred)
Strong client-facing communication skills
Strong understanding of financial statements and cash flow management
Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills
Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar systems
CPA preferred
