We are seeking an individual with deep knowledge of the commercial drone industry and a strong understanding of aviation exposures, regulation, and emerging technology. While prior insurance underwriting experience is valuable, we are also interested in candidates with significant operational, technical, regulatory, or business experience within the commercial UAS ecosystem who are interested in applying that expertise to insurance.

Also open to: Chicago, IL
Exceptional candidates in other U.S. locations may be considered on a remote basis
Key Responsibilities
Assess and underwrite individual UAS risks, including operating profiles, aircraft characteristics, insured values, liability exposures, geographic exposures, regulatory considerations, and other relevant risk factors, and establish appropriate terms, conditions, coverage, and pricing within assigned authority
Develop and execute broker and partner distribution strategies, with a focus on enterprise fleets and specialty aviation risks to drive production and market penetration
Define and refine target segments, including utilities, infrastructure, energy, and commercial fleet operators, to optimize portfolio mix and premium growth
Own underwriting performance across assigned segments, including growth, profitability, pricing adequacy, and portfolio composition
Translate underwriting strategy and risk appetite into disciplined underwriting guidelines, coverage structures, rating logic, underwriting questions, referral rules, and scalable product frameworks for both digitally traded and traditionally underwritten business.
Contribute to pricing strategy, including usage-based and exposure-driven rating approaches, in partnership with actuarial and aviation leadership
Oversee digital underwriting execution, ensuring alignment with guidelines, authority, and portfolio objectives while optimizing throughput and efficiency
Monitor portfolio performance and emerging risk trends, including premium, exposure concentrations, profitability, loss experience, retention, pricing adequacy, and evolving aviation and UAS exposures, and recommend adjustments to strategy and appetite.
Lead ongoing product refinement, including updates to forms, coverage, and underwriting guidelines based on market feedback and performance insights
Partner cross-functionally with product, operations, claims, compliance, and technology teams to ensure alignment between underwriting intent, execution, and customer experience
Collaborate with operations and technology to enhance onboarding, policy issuance, and digital platform capabilities
Engage with claims to ensure underwriting assumptions and coverage intent are reflected in claims outcomes and feedback loops inform underwriting improvements
Maintain deep awareness of aviation regulations, UAS operating standards, and technological advancements to inform underwriting strategy and product evolution
Lead or participate in the development, testing, launch, and ongoing optimization of digital underwriting products, using underwriting results, customer behavior, operational feedback, and market response to recommend enhancements.
Represent TMH in broker and client meetings, industry conferences, and other relevant market forums, and contribute to presentations, product materials, market updates, and thought leadership.
