About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Flowkade is a start-up creating thoughtful digital learning experiences for children and educators. We combine educational expertise, playful interaction, product design, and modern web technology to make learning engaging and effective.
As our Game Development Intern, you will help build a browser-based 2D educational game prototype for children. You will translate game and learning concepts into responsive interactions, progression, feedback, animation, and reusable game systems. You will work closely with our educational and creative team, with regular opportunities to discuss your work and improve the learner experience.
The exact tools and game framework have not yet been fixed. Together, we will select an approach that suits the prototype, the product, and your learning goals.
What You Will Work On
Depending on your experience and learning goals, you will:
Develop 2D gameplay and interactive mechanics
Turn educational and creative concepts into playable experiences
Build UI, animation, feedback, rewards, and progression
Integrate artwork, sound, and other game assets
Work with player progress and game state
Create components and systems that can be reused across activities
Test, debug, and improve performance across browsers and devices
Contribute ideas about game feel, motivation, usability, and accessibility
You will not be expected to create everything independently. The internship is an opportunity to learn how a game concept develops into a working product through experimentation, feedback, and collaboration.
