Title: Non-Profit Senior Client Bookkeeper (Part-time, 10-99 Contractor)
Primary Point of Contact: Finance Director
Classification: Part-Time, Contractor, Remote
Hourly Rate: $45 per hour
Hours: Approximately 20 hours per week, may vary by client and business needs. The contractor sets their own schedule and coordinates reasonable availability during 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. ET to answer team questions, communicate with clients, and meet agreed deadlines.
JOB DESCRIPTION
If you are an experienced contractor who enjoys solving complex accounting challenges, supporting mission-driven organizations, and helping others produce accurate financial work, we’d like to hear from you.
Position Summary: Purpose Capital provides financial services to nonprofit organizations and charter schools. The Senior Nonprofit Client Bookkeeper is an independent contractor responsible for day-to-day and advanced bookkeeping for approximately 3–5 client accounts, including reconciliations, financial reporting, close activities, and audits. This role serves as a key technical resource. The contractor answers technical questions, helps coworkers resolve complex bookkeeping issues, supports onboarding on client processes, and creates SOPs and checklists. The contractor may join client meetings or respond to client emails on accounting matters within their assigned scope.
This is an individual contributor role. The contractor does not supervise coworkers, assign their work, conduct performance reviews, or make personnel decisions. The contractor refers recurring errors, broader training needs, and performance concerns to the Reporting & Financial Operations Lead.
The contractor manages their own schedule. Because client needs and technical questions arise throughout the week, Purpose Capital prefers shorter periods of availability across more days rather than a few full days. The parties will agree on response expectations for time-sensitive work.
The role requires expert proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Excel, nonprofit and fund accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end and year-end close.
Nonprofit bookkeeping experience is required for this role.
