Technical Co-founder / Founding CTO

Pika Health is looking for a Technical Co-founder and Founding CTO to help build the patient-facing health intelligence layer, starting with dentistry.
This is an equity-only opportunity. Pika is currently pre-funding and cannot offer a salary at this stage.
About Pika Health:
Dental practices collect valuable clinical information, but patients often leave without a clear understanding of their oral health, what has changed or what they need to do next.
Pika is being built to turn recorded clinical information into a clear, personalised dashboard that patients can understand, track and act on. It is designed to support better communication and continuity between appointments while keeping the dental team at the centre.
Pika was founded by Soha Rashid, an award-winning Dental Therapist with NHS and private practice experience. We have an existing product and technical foundation and are preparing for our first UK dental practice pilot.
The Role:
We are looking for a hands on technical co-founder/ CTO who can take ownership of Pika’s technology and help shape the wider company.
You will initially work directly with the founder to develop the existing product into a secure and pilot-ready platform. As Pika grows, you will have the opportunity to build and lead the technical team.
This is a genuine co-founder/ CTO position, not simply an unpaid software development role. You will contribute to product strategy, company decisions, partnerships, fundraising and Pika’s long-term direction.
Responsibilities:
Own Pika’s technical strategy and architecture
Develop the existing product into a secure, reliable and pilot-ready platform
Build patient-facing and practice-facing product experiences
Translate clinical and user requirements into practical technical solutions
Design secure authentication, permissions and data-access systems
Develop appropriate AI capabilities with clear safeguards and human oversight
Plan integrations with dental practice management systems
Establish testing, deployment, monitoring and documentation practices
Consider data protection, UK GDPR, clinical safety and healthcare security
Speak with pilot users and improve the product based on evidence
Support technical discussions with partners, advisers and investors
Help recruit and lead Pika’s future engineering team

You will be able to review the current foundation and recommend changes where appropriate.
About you:
You may be a senior software engineer, technical lead, product-focused developer or previous founder who is ready to take ownership of a company’s technical direction.
You should have:
Strong full stack software engineering experience
Experience shipping products used by real customers
Knowledge of modern web applications, APIs and relational databases
An understanding of authentication, data privacy and security
The ability to make sensible technical decisions with limited resources
A product mindset and interest in understanding users
Clear communication and good judgement
A collaborative approach to the co-founder relationship
A willingness to remain hands-on during the early stages
A genuine interest in healthcare and patient experience
Regular availability during UK working hours
Experience in healthcare software, dental technology, AI, clinical systems, FHIR, HL7 or sensitive health data would be helpful but is not essential.
Commitment:
The role will be part-time initially, with an expected commitment of approximately 10 to 15 hours per week.
The intention is for the successful person to move into a full-time role when Pika reaches an agreed funding or revenue milestone.
Compensation:
This is an equity-only opportunity at Pika’s pre-funding stage. The successful candidate will receive meaningful co-founder/ CTO equity based on experience, commitment, responsibilities and intended transition to full-time work.
Equity will be subject to an agreed vesting schedule and formal legal documentation.
Pika cannot currently provide a salary, pension, paid leave or employee benefits. The intention is to introduce a market-appropriate salary and benefits following an agreed funding or revenue milestone, although this cannot be guaranteed.
