At Fearless, we are seeking a 1099 contractor to serve as a Full Stack Developer Trainer for an eight-week, intensive, hands-on training program for federal IT professionals. This role supports an IRS workforce development initiative designed to upskill existing technical personnel in modern enterprise application development, secure coding practices, and cloud deployment. The trainer will deliver live, synchronous instruction using a curriculum
developed by Fearless, guiding participants through front-end frameworks, back-end services, SQL databases, DevOps practices, and a capstone project requiring participants to build, test, and deploy a complete full stack application. This is a fully remote, 40-hour-per-week 1099 contractor engagement, with work performed between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. EST.
Your Responsibilities In This Role
Deliver live virtual instruction in front-end development, including responsive user interfaces using modern web frameworks and tools.
Teach back-end application development, including application logic, enterprise services, secure API development, and API integration.
Provide hands-on instruction in relational databases and SQL, including joins, subqueries, window functions, CTEs, query optimization, indexing, stored procedures, views, and data modeling.
Teach and demonstrate secure coding, software testing, source control, and collaborative software development practices.
Provide practical instruction in DevOps and CI/CD, containerization, cloud deployment, application troubleshooting, and maintenance.
Develop and facilitate instructor-led coding labs, workshops, practical exercises, and realistic enterprise application-development scenarios.
Provide real-time technical assistance during labs, including code reviews, debugging, troubleshooting, and individualized participant feedback.
Lead participants through an end-to-end capstone project requiring them to design, build, test, secure, integrate, troubleshoot, and deploy a complete full stack application.
Support the Skills Gap Analysis and use assessment results and Government feedback to tailor instructional emphasis, sequencing, exercises, and participant support.
Assess participant competency and maintain documentation supporting attendance, progress, completion, assessment results, and performance metrics for inclusion in the LMS.
Coordinate with other instructors and Fearless program management to maintain curriculum consistency and provide the COR and IRS IT Tax Processing Program Office with visibility into participant progress.
Work Experience
Project Skill and Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of professional full stack software development experience, including delivery of production enterprise applications.
3+ years of technical instruction, mentoring, coaching, or workforce development experience, preferably with experienced software developers.
Demonstrated hands-on expertise with a modern front-end framework such as React, Angular, or Vue and associated HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript technologies.
Demonstrated expertise with at least one enterprise back-end development stack, such as Java/Spring Boot, .NET, Node.js, or comparable technology.
Advanced working knowledge of SQL, relational databases, data modeling, API development and integration, and application troubleshooting.
Hands-on experience with Git and source control, automated testing, secure coding, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and containers such as Docker.
Experience with cloud application deployment, preferably AWS or another enterprise cloud environment.
Experience designing and facilitating hands-on coding labs, practical exercises, and capstone projects in which learners develop complete applications.
Working knowledge of secure SDLC and modern software engineering practices, with experience operating in security-conscious enterprise environments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to explain complex technical concepts to experienced technical professionals.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer or during meetings.
Must be able to travel occasionally to client sites or company meetings, which may involve driving or flying.
Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in-person, requiring clear speech, listening, and written communication skills.
Ability to move within an office environment, including reaching for files, using office equipment, and occasional light lifting (up to 10 pounds).

Compensation & Engagement Details
Fearless is committed to offering competitive contract rates that reflect the expertise, experience, and value our independent contractors bring to client engagements.
Final rates are determined based on experience, qualifications, project requirements, and market considerations.
This position is structured as an independent contractor (1099) engagement and is not eligible for employee compensation programs or benefits.
