About The Role

We're looking for PhD-level Applied Physicists to stress-test cutting-edge AI models, expose flaws in their physical reasoning, and help ensure they never violate the fundamental laws of the universe.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for researchers and academics who want to apply their expertise to one of the most consequential challenges in modern technology. No prior AI experience needed — just mastery of physics and a rigorous, analytical mind.

What You'll Do
Design Advanced Physics Problems — Craft challenging, open-ended problems at PhD qualifying exam level, requiring multi-step logical reasoning and complex mathematical derivation
Author Gold-Standard Solutions — Write rigorous, step-by-step "golden responses" with flawless physical constants, unit conversions, and logical structure
Audit AI Reasoning — Evaluate AI-generated simulations, proofs, and explanations for physical consistency — identifying where models "hallucinate" physics that violates first principles
Refine Model Behavior — Provide structured, expert feedback that helps AI develop physics-informed reasoning, including boundary conditions, conservation laws, and dimensional analysis
Cover Core Domains — Work across Classical Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Statistical Mechanics, Quantum Mechanics, and related fields
Who You Are
Holds a PhD (completed or in final stages) in Applied Physics, Physics, Engineering Physics, or a closely related field
Deep mastery of the core pillars of physics — Classical Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Statistical Mechanics, and Quantum Mechanics
Exceptional ability to explain complex physical phenomena and mathematical derivations in clear, structured English
Uncompromising attention to detail — units, scientific notation, and logical flow are never an afterthought
Comfortable working independently and asynchronously with minimal supervision
No prior AI or data annotation experience required
Nice to Have
Experience with data annotation, scientific dataset evaluation, or quality assurance for research outputs
Proficiency with tools such as MATLAB, COMSOL, Python (NumPy/SciPy), or similar
Background in computational physics, engineering physics, or applied research
Experience writing technical documentation, academic papers, or educational materials
