Position Overview
Herdt Consulting is seeking an experienced Informatica Data Lineage Engineer to support a large-scale Workday implementation for a state government client. This role will implement enterprise data lineage and metadata traceability across a complex ecosystem of cloud applications, legacy systems, integrations, databases, transformations, and reporting platforms. The consultant will help make upstream and downstream data relationships visible, accurate, and usable for governance, impact analysis, and change management.

Key Responsibilities
Configure and maintain metadata scanners, connectors, and lineage capabilities within Informatica IDMC/CDGC.
Establish automated technical lineage across source systems, transformations, integrations, databases, files, APIs, and downstream consumers.
Develop and validate source-to-target traceability and relationships among business and technical data assets.
Perform impact analysis and help teams understand upstream and downstream dependencies.
Investigate lineage gaps, metadata inconsistencies, unsupported transformations, and scanner or connector issues.
Partner with governance, data quality, architecture, integration, and application teams to make lineage accurate, usable, and sustainable.
Required Qualifications
Hands-on experience implementing data lineage using Informatica IDMC/CDGC, EDC, or closely related Informatica metadata capabilities.
Strong understanding of metadata ingestion, automated lineage, source-to-target mapping, impact analysis, and dependency analysis.
Experience tracing data through ETL/ELT, databases, APIs, files, cloud applications, and reporting or analytics environments.
Strong SQL and data-analysis skills with the ability to validate technical lineage against actual data flows.
Ability to communicate complex lineage and dependency concepts clearly to technical and business teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Workday or enterprise financial/ERP data flows.
Experience modernizing lineage/catalog capabilities from Informatica EDC/Axon to IDMC/CDGC.
Experience in large public-sector or regulated enterprise environments.
