Lumber Grader

THE LUMBER MANUFACTORY (TLM) IS BUILDING THE FUTURE OF SUSTAINABLE LUMBER WITH NEXT-GENERATION SAWMILL TECHNOLOGY. WE DESIGN AND OPERATE STATE-OF-THE-ART MODULAR SAWMILLS THAT PRODUCE HIGH-GRADE DIMENSIONAL WOOD PRODUCTS WITH GREATER EFFICIENCY AND LESS WASTE. We're hiring Lumber Graders to inspect and grade the lumber we produce in New Albany, so only quality product moves on to our customers. Grading experience is a plus, but we provide on-the-job training and certification for people with a sharp eye and steady attention to detail.
What you'll do
- Inspect lumber for defects like knots, splits, decay, and warp
- Grade and sort lumber by size and quality using SPIB grading rules
- Mark lumber with grade stamps and record grading data accurately
- Work with sawyers and production staff when quality issues come up
- Follow safety procedures and keep your area clean
What we're looking for
- Strong attention to detail and a focus on quality
- Lumber grading experience or certification is a plus
- Comfortable standing for long periods and handling lumber in a mill environment
- Dependable attendance and reliable transportation to the mill
- Able to pass a background check
Schedule and pay: Full-time. Multiple shifts available, including days. We'll talk through what works for you during your interview. Starting pay $16+/hr. Training and grading certification provided.
Location: On site at our mill in New Albany, Mississippi.
