Experience Level
2 - 3 Years
Education
Bachelor’s / Master’s in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Electronics & Communication, or Embedded Systems Engineering
Location
On-site
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Avionics Engineer with 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience in embedded hardware-software integration, driver development, and flight controller stacks for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and drones. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, integrating, and testing core avionics systems, developing device drivers for onboard sensors, and bridging communication protocols between hardware components and autonomy algorithms. If you have an aerospace background and a passion for building robust drone architectures, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
1. Driver Development & Sensor Integration
Write, optimize, and maintain low-level board support packages (BSPs), peripheral drivers, and sensor handling firmware in C/C++.
Integrate diverse sensors including IMUs, magnetometers, barometers, LiDAR, GPS/GNSS, optical flow, and payloads.
Manage low-level digital communication protocols including SPI, I2C, CAN, RS-485, and UART.
2. Avionics & Flight Control Systems
Configure, customize, and maintain open-source and proprietary flight stacks (PX4 / ArduPilot).
Architect and implement networked communication for ground station and onboard computers using TCP/IP, UDP, and MAVLink.
Design and integrate onboard power distribution, safety interlocks, and fail-safe mechanisms for UAV platforms.
3. Robotics, CV & AI Integration
Bridge avionics sensor data with onboard compute platforms using ROS / ROS2 for downstream perception and navigation tasks.
Support image data pipelines by integrating camera interfaces and leveraging OpenCV for onboard preprocessing.
Assist in deploying lightweight AI/ML models on edge devices for real-time tracking, obstacle avoidance, or object classification.
4. Testing, Validation & Field Execution
Conduct Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) simulations to validate flight stability and fail-safe protocols.
Participate in bench testing, ground trials, and live flight tests to debug communication latencies, driver faults, and sensor noise.
Document technical specifications, wiring schematics, driver architecture, and test procedures.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Educational Background: Aerospace Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical Engineering, or related fields with strong exposure to aerospace fundamentals.
Experience: 2 to 3 years of demonstrated experience working on embedded systems, avionics, or drone hardware stacks.
Programming Proficiency: Strong proficiency in C and C++ for embedded systems development, along with Python for rapid prototyping, data analysis, and automation scripting.
Communication Protocols: In-depth hands-on experience with hardware interfaces (SPI, I2C, CAN, RS-485, UART) and networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP).
UAV Flight Stacks: Hands-on experience with PX4 or similar open-source flight control architectures.
Driver Writing: Proven track record of writing sensor drivers from scratch or modifying vendor BSPs.
Robotics & Middleware: Practical familiarity with ROS (Robot Operating System) and basic computer vision libraries like OpenCV.
Desired Skills & Nice-to-Haves
Exposure to AI/ML framework deployment on edge hardware (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson, Raspberry Pi).
Familiarity with MAVLink communication protocols and Ground Control Station (GCS) customization (QGroundControl, Mission Planner).
Understanding of flight dynamics, aerodynamic constraints, and structural layout of multirotors or fixed-wing UAVs.
Hands-on experience with logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and multimeters for debugging hardware lines.
What We Offer
Opportunity to work on cutting-edge autonomous aerial platforms and next-gen UAV technology.
Collaborative and fast-paced engineering environment.
Competitive compensation package and career advancement opportunities.
