Human Resources Manager

Prasad Jewellers is a 65-year-old jewellery retail business with stores in Rourkela, Sundergarh, Sambalpur, and Jharsuguda, and an associated brand, Maahi Gold. We are looking for an experienced HR Manager to lead people operations across our corporate team and store staff across all branches.
The HR Manager will own recruitment, attendance and payroll coordination, training, performance appraisal, employee discipline and grievance handling, and exit management — running the business's existing HR SOP framework and strengthening it as the company grows. This is a role for someone who can bring structure, consistency, and a technology-forward approach to HR in a fast-scaling, multi-location retail business.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding
• Plan manpower requirements across corporate office and all branches; source, screen and interview candidates for store and back-office roles
• Run structured onboarding and induction for new hires, aligned to the HR SOP manual
Attendance, Payroll & Compliance
• Coordinate monthly attendance, leave and payroll inputs with the accounts team; keep PF, ESI and statutory records current
• Maintain personnel files, contracts and access control records across branches
Training & Performance
• Plan and track training calendars for sales staff, back office and support functions
• Run periodic appraisals and performance reviews; maintain appraisal documentation
Discipline, Grievance & Exit
• Handle employee discipline, grievance redressal and conflict resolution across stores
• Manage the exit process — clearance, full and final settlement, and exit interviews
Systems & Reporting
• Own and improve the existing HR SOP library; keep it current as the business scales
• Maintain HR dashboards/trackers and report staffing, attrition and compliance status to management
• Support digitization of HR processes (attendance, records, workflows) in line with the company's technology-driven approach
Requirements & Qualifications
• MBA / Postgraduate degree in Human Resource Management or a related field
• 5+ years of HR generalist experience, ideally in retail, jewellery, or another multi-location consumer business
• Prior experience managing HR across multiple branches/locations preferred
• Working knowledge of Indian labour law, PF, ESI, gratuity and statutory compliance
• Comfortable working with HR software/ERP systems and Excel/Google Sheets-based trackers
• Willingness to travel periodically to Sundergarh, Sambalpur and Jharsuguda branches
Skills & Competencies
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable working with store staff, management and vendors
• Structured and process-oriented; able to build, document and enforce SOPs
• High integrity and discretion in handling confidential staff and payroll matters
• Problem-solving mindset — able to independently resolve day-to-day people issues across branches
• Proficiency in Hindi/Odia and English; local candidates from the Rourkela/Sundergarh/Sambalpur/Jharsuguda region preferred
