We are seeking a sharp Geopolitical & Trade Intelligence Analyst Intern who lives at the intersection of global affairs and economic risk to join our founding team.
What You'll Do
You will work directly with the founders to build out the intelligence layer of the MeridianFront platform tracking, structuring, and translating geopolitical signals into actionable supply chain risk inputs.
Geopolitical Risk Monitoring: Track developments across key trade corridors US-China, India-EU, Gulf, Southeast Asia and assess their downstream impact on manufacturing supply chains and procurement costs.
Sanctions & Export Control Intelligence: Monitor and synthesize updates from BIS, OFAC, EU sanctions registers, and India's DGFT on export controls, entity listings, and trade restrictions affecting Indian manufacturer-exporters.
Trade Policy Analysis: Analyze tariff shifts, FTA developments, anti-dumping duties, and preferential origin rules and translate them into risk signals for procurement and logistics teams.
Country & Corridor Risk Scoring: Build and maintain risk profiles for key sourcing countries and trade corridors covering political stability, regulatory risk, infrastructure reliability, and sanctions exposure.
Signal-to-Alert Pipeline: Help structure raw geopolitical intelligence into platform-ready risk alerts, executive briefings, and automated disruption flags for enterprise users.
Competitive & Market Intelligence: Track how global events are reshaping supplier landscapes, component availability, and procurement strategy across electronics, pharma, and industrial manufacturing sectors.
Who You Are
Academic Pursuits: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in International Relations, Political Science, Economics, Strategic Studies, Public Policy, or a related field with strong quantitative components.
Geopolitical Fluency: Strong grasp of current global trade dynamics US-China decoupling, critical mineral competition, sanctions regimes, Indo-Pacific supply chain shifts.
Research Depth: Comfortable working across OSINT sources government databases, think tank publications, trade registers, shipping data, regulatory filings to build structured intelligence products.
Analytical Writing: Ability to translate complex geopolitical developments into crisp, structured risk assessments that non-specialists can act on.
Data Comfort: Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets for structuring and presenting intelligence. Familiarity with tools like Datawrapper, Python, or SQL is a plus.
Bonus Points
Prior research or coursework on critical minerals, energy supply chains, or Indo-Pacific trade policy.
Exposure to intelligence frameworks PESTLE, STEEP, scenario analysis, red-teaming.
Familiarity with sanctions compliance tools or trade databases (Sayari, ImportGenius, Panjiva, Kompass).
